Who Next 2024

2023 felt special but I think some of that was perception of the could have been. Take it as what it actually ended up as it was still great but less spectacular. We associate that class with P Bowen, Keeley, Dante, Hillman, and the almosts. Love and Jag are elite top 100 players imo. But we did not technically land any 5 star players like Sneed. The 2021 and 2022 classes had a lot of the same high expectation guys. Some of those 2021 guys didn’t meet expectations but at the time everyone thought Buchner, Griffith, Colzie, Styles we’re going to be the next big thing.

I think these classes have been excellent. If we finish this one strong we have a group that if well coached should be able to hang with anyone. The needle movers like Scott will show up if we go 11-1.
I only associate the 2023 class with the kids who signed. It's a very good to outstanding class, with a Rivals Star Average in the top 5.

It was great. But we must rinse and repeat to beat Georgia or Bama.

Then find Quarterbacks who will spend 6 years in college but not graduate.

That’s one guy. Bama doesn’t do that. Niether does Clemson or OSU.

Better, we have a 6th year that did graduate. If Freeman can get another Hartman in 2024, more power to him.

Good news is most QB’s are smart. If they play for a crappy team and ND becomes 4th year QB U so be it. Give me Maye or one of the countless other QB’s that plays for a team that will never have a chance at a playoff let alone a championship. Hartman is only the beginning. Carr and Minchey better be elite or bye bye.

Stetson Bennett was 25 last season and did not graduate. Maybe Notre Dame should go that route with QB's.
Isn’t Hartman going to be 25 this year.? And according to Hyde he doesn’t attend class. I’m sure he’s got a degree or 3 from Wake so there’s that. Things aren’t much different here but keep dreaming. And I’m guessing Hartmann is getting paid more then Bennett

In other words, suspend reality, dont use logic/data/math, and just hope for the best and even if you strike out you win anyway

this is what passes for assessing NDs recruiting classes around here
12th overall last year. 8th in avg player rankings

Remember when you told me i was nuts when I suggested ND would finish 12th last year too? At what point do I stop being some irrational ND hater/basher and earn the benefit of the doubt for being a dude who is just trying to keep it real?

Also, when only 1 team wins a national title at the end of the year, at what point do 12th ranked classes stop being considered a 'very good class' to you and start becoming a massive barrier to the national title outlook of Notre Dame?

At what point do you become a cynic of NDs national title outlook (based on the best available info to you) and stop being a cheerleader? is it a 20th ranked class? 25th? 30th? where is that line where you get to my level of seeing just how far away ND is and can't help but become frustrated with yet another hack trying to minimize the issues?

You mean like suggesting Jack was fired?

At what point does Golson5 say "hmmmm....you know what there's only 1 team who holds a national title trophy every year and that hasn't been my team (not even close) despite recruiting the same level of class for much of the last 10+ years"

Looked at in another way:

If ND lands top 10 classes and signs a top QB they will have a chance to win Titles

They did that last year to me, 8th in players avg, just because other teams hand out more schollies does not mean they have higher quality players. And they will do similar again this year.

We are not going to sign top 2 to 3 classes right now. Maybe if we win a title that could change but not now.

It appears MB is recruiting the best athletes . Track guys who play football. If ND cannot compete with NIL than getting speed on the field is a good alternative

No.

remember when there was a lot of cross over competition between ND and USC? I do not read a lot of info or fan posting about recruits being targets of ND and USC. Of course, I do not have any inside info so it may just be that there is a lot of cross competition between ND and USC, but I am unaware of it.

KVA. Not aware of many others. We haven’t been hitting Cali like we used to. More Texas which will be interesting how it plays out. I think a Texas kid is a lot better pedigree than a Cali kid. They don’t raise them right in Cali.

Must haves:
Tae
KVA
Lambert

Would like to have:
Shaw
Nelson
Beasley

Starting to feel like things are over with Scott, so I’m not including him in these lists anymore. If we get him great, but I’m not going to even think about it
