Who Next 2024

Sorry. Waaaay. Better than Kelly. Not close. Kelly never had interest from five stars except in 2013. We are recruiting five stars all the time. After we win it all this year our conversion of five stars will happen
Thank you Mrs. Freeman.

Check the Notre Dame record book Sparky. There is a certain coach with the initials BK as winningest coach in history of the school.

How'd you know I'm a electrician, that's funny. Already guessed you a clown.

Hartman racked up some nice numbers in the terrible ACC on a bad program that had NFL prospects at WR during Hartman's entire tenure there.

He was a 4 star transfer on the level equivalent to the one we lost (Diggs).

Yet ND fans think this 10th year senior or whatever that has zero NFL projectability is the answer to all of our problems on offense.

Hartman is a warm body at the position similar to the last 3 we've had at the position here. He's the type of QB you get when you are loaded all over the roster and just need a veteran guy that won't screw it up.

Yet Hartman is being viewed by ND fans like the second coming of Peyton Manning to Tennessee or something. It's mind blowing the ridiculous narrative on a mediocre 4 star transfer from the ACC.
^ no bias here folks…just the facts (lol)

Is Braunte a big time impact recruit? Kyle Hamilton-like safety?
Hes a high upside recruit at a huge position of need. Good prospect but high upside kid.

No on Kyle Hamilton. Hes a one in a generation type kid though. Hes not a Hamilton or Bowen but Hes a very important piece to the class

We need safeties

He's projected as a spot guy that could develop into a starting caliber safety in yr 2-3.

We need quality true safeties, this is a good get.

Damn. I thought he was a certain starter by Year 2.

Agree…..we need safeties. Maybe go to portal.

Tae 24th
Lambert
KVA
Shaw

Gets us to 272.67

That would be nearly an exact tie to last seasons 12th ranked class at 272.79.

Seems we lead for the top 2. How likely are KVA and Shaw? Who am I missing that we have a good/high shot at (not named Scott) if anyone?

Get Scott and we go to 281.35, which would get us into last years top 10 at #8.

All of the above happening is of course no easy task. Will we break the top 10?

This is the proper way to assess a class. And your last sentence is really key as well. You dont want to just focus on the class score, but also how that final class score compares to the other classes around college football, so the final recruiting class ranking matters a lot too.

I quoted/responded to this post before your edit so wanted to respond to this part too.

This class is probably going to finish somewhere in the 15-20 range when all is said and done. Still got to hold onto Cam Williams and CJ Carr or it could get really ugly really quickly too. Like Ty Willingham era bad.

Rushing is still in play. Whatever happened to the super recruite who attended the barbecue.

No chance it gets down to 15th

You want it to but not going to happen

Carr isnt going anywhere you keep trying to push that for some odd reason

its not that I want it to, its that i want *accurate* information (you know; the truth, reality, etc.) not the ND spin/fairy tale/bias information that so many people love to cling to and share around here.

Can’t believe I forgot Nelson.

Get:

Tae
Lambert
Nelson

That would essentially get us close to where we finished last year at around 269. Will take KVA and Shaw to put us in the top 10 if we look at last year.

Get Beasley and/or Scott and we are top 6-7.

Fail to get one of Tae, Guerby, or Nelson and then miss on KVA and Shaw and don’t get Scott or Beasley and we very well could be looking at a 15-20 finish.

Need to finish strong with those top 3 and then fill in with a combo of KVA, Shaw, Scott, Beasley to put us over the hump. Will come down to 2023 season and success or failure of coaching imo. Hartman is super helpful to this end.

We finished 12th overall last year. And we finished 8 in per player avg ranking. Other teams took more guys. Does not mean they had better classes.

Top 10 class last year. Very very good class

Just enjoy getting really good football players
In other words, suspend reality, dont use logic/data/math, and just hope for the best and even if you strike out you win anyway

this is what passes for assessing NDs recruiting classes around here

and now that NDs recruiting/class outlook looks more mediocre than ever this year, the new spin around the ND community is that ND is going after high upside/low floor guys with length lol even though there is no proof/data/evidence for it.

where is that "make it make sense" meme when you need it?

Good point. Quality over quantity. We do need this class to finish strong. Missing on Lambert, Nelson, Scott, and Beasley would not bode well for title chances. Great class is not the same thing as elite and major needle moving class. They certainly need to have a good season to convince a couple.

My guess is 2025 recruiting will pickup substantially once we start steaming ahead with Hartman and this high powered offense this season. That class seems to like ND in general better than other classes in a while. Just need a few key 2024 guys to get with the program.

The 2021--2022--2023 classes average 8.8 on Rivals. And frankly, even though the 2023 class was the lowest ranked of the three at 11, I thought it was the best class of the last three.

2023 felt special but I think some of that was perception of the could have been. Take it as what it actually ended up as it was still great but less spectacular. We associate that class with P Bowen, Keeley, Dante, Hillman, and the almosts. Love and Jag are elite top 100 players imo. But we did not technically land any 5 star players like Sneed. The 2021 and 2022 classes had a lot of the same high expectation guys. Some of those 2021 guys didn’t meet expectations but at the time everyone thought Buchner, Griffith, Spindler, Colzie, Styles were going to be the next big thing.

I think these classes have been excellent. If we finish this one strong we have a group that if well coached should be able to hang with anyone. The needle movers like Scott will show up if we go 11-1.
