ok, try to think back to the 2weeks leading up to the UT game. We had a UT fan here, a rather polite and seemingly in touch with the UT team talent.
I noted that Strong had a massive job ahead of him when he took on the head coach position; String needed to purge not just players but underperforming staff. Strong needed to re-establish recruiting even in the home state. He effectively was only in his 2nd year of rebuilding. Our visiting UT fan agreed.
I noted that UT was going to field a very young team on defense and while talented was very inexperienced.
We know that the UT OL was 'not very good'; and most other skill positions were untried if talented.
Then there was the fact thatvUT would be starting a true Fr.

The above was contrasted to a fully entrenched 7+ year head coach, returning with a talented offinse loaded with future starts and NFL drsftees. While the defense was a problem it was in fact a 7 year in the making problem!

So, we had a coach fully established with his vision and plan vs a coach whose team was anything but;
The established team vs the team in early rebuilding.
The established coach vs the 2nd year coach.
Experience vs inexperience.

I said there was no rational for losing to UT. I baited our Kellyites to make predictions in view of all this; if they believed in their guy, they should show it! few if any took the fleece.

I tried to get the point across, that there was no possible explanation for ND to lose this game unless there 'was a problem'. The warning was sounded.

Instead the pre game hype by the Mean Girls and 'loyal to a faulters' tried to convince that UT was some kind of super team on verge of a great season.

So guys like (echo, Decker, IJ, ...) few others who like to throw out the 'wrong again' thing as if that will resonate with the majority that truth be told realize that most most times my strongly worded posts are pretty much spot on!

So next time you want to use that lie; put a sock in it! you never were right!

Your statement of grow a pair and be a man concerning things Kelly has said to players pretty much applies to Kelly when it comes to something said on a message board. Especially when you are performing as horribly as Kelly is as the head coach at the most storied college program in the country with the largest fanbase. Ski...I had conveniently forgotten the Champs bowl, but agree. Every year there are controversial decisions, and the ones that fail are fair game for second guessing and criticism. That comes with the job. On balance, I thought Kelly was a good coach and one who had done a good job improving the overall football program. I felt he made more than his share of stupid in game decisions, but also felt he more often than not made excellent halftime adjustments. As a long time ND fan, I was supportive and thought the program was clearly on the upswing. His support of BVG after two years of pathetic defense and poor fundamentals raised major doubts about Kelly in my mind for the first time. But this year seems different. The decision to go back to the three man front against Texas after the four man front had made three consecutive three and out stops was indefensible. The unemotional poor play on both sides of the ball against a less than average Duke team, raised questions about the team's preparations, chemistry, and whether Kelly had their trust and support. Up to that point, I thought Kelly had done enough to deserve the opportunity to turn this season into prep for next year and the opportunity to deliver a great team next season. The NCS game derailed this. Passing 26 times in a hurricane and dropping to pass over 36 times was stubborn insanity. Not using MZ in those conditions was indefensible in my mind, and frustrating beyond words as NCS used their running QB to shred our defense. The fourth and 12 call was so stupid that it can't even be argued. Have to believe that the players saw all this as well and had to feel the coaches were not putting them in the best position to win, and nothing demoralizes a team more than that. For the first time in seven years, Kelly seems overwhelmed and beaten, and the fans and players see this. I don't agree that Kelly is a loser per se, but I do agree he is burned out and ineffective and that he has outlived his usefulness as the ND head coach.

I agree. I have never been a Kelly apologist but I've made my case against him with statistics, facts and game time evidence. I don't understand the need to personally attack a coach. I didn't like it when it was done to Weis and I don't like it now.

I think Kelly has every right to chew his players out for poor play, but you do that behind closed doors in the locker room or on the practice field. You don't hang these kids out in front of the media during a press conference. They are not professionals. He gets paid $4 million to take the bullets. You stand up there, and you take the heat. Kelly should not quit. The administration should have the guts to fire him. I don't think it will happen though. What I'm interested in is how the players will respond to Kelly the rest of the season. Will they fight to win out these next six games to get to a decent bowl game at 8-4, or have they had enough of Kelly. If it's the former, Kelly likely stays. If it's the latter, he 's probably lost the team, you will see decommits and he probably goes. I don't know what the answer is if it's somewhere in between, say a 6-6 finish for the year.

So resigning out of respect for the University is out of the question? That basically makes him a thief.
