Tell me it isn’t so HH?

It's true. He did a great job turning around the O-Line. Will be hard to replace.

HH to retire. Just when our OL is showing improvement.
Harry has more than earned the right to retire and see his grandkids in college. He has spent so much time away from family. I'm gonna miss your great coaching ability but I'm more than happy for you. ND will find someone that will take your spot but never fill your shoes. Congrats!!

He came back with Tommy to solidify things when bk shit on Notre Dame. Nothing but respect. Quite honestly, I don't feel watt has the resume to be the guy. Two or three more years under harry along with a set transition sure, but right now he might need to go elsewhere for a bit. Congrats to Hh on a retirement well earned.

This hurts really bad.... ouch and wow
Ol coach is one thing I'm not worried about. With the talent at ND we can attract a top coach. There is one in Utah and one in Indiana I'd be working with right now.

A surprise to absolutely no one on the inside. He came back as a courtesy to Rees and Jack. The rigors of recruiting in this day and age are vicious not to mention the level of ass kissing required now to teenagers is at an unprecedented level. Not for HH and who could blame him. Enjoy retirement Harry, you've certainly earned it.

They could do a lot worse. Not many o line coaches out there with two playoff appearances on their resume. Just sayin'.
If Jeff Quinn was as incompetent as some here claim, the 44-6 overall record and two playoff berths from his 2018-2021 tenure makes no sense.

Absolutely. Anyone criticising him at all needs to take a long walk off a short pier in waters infested with piranha.

The timing seems a little strange given the situation with the OC search.I have a hunch that Ludwick has accepted the job and wants to bring in Harding his line coach at Utah.

Something ain’t right when you lose Rees, get deKleined, lose Harry and likely at least one other coach, but keep Al ****ing Washington.

Everything I read about Harry’s return suggested he did so as a favor to Rees. Now that Rees has departed, and given Harry’s age, I fully expected this announcement. Personally, my gut says he took some time to think about whether he wanted to fully retire from the game, and once decided, he wanted to announce before a new OC was hired. I think the Super Bowl timing was driven by the imminent announcement of the OC hire. This is a well deserved retirement, and Harry has left a great personal legacy at ND. The timing is perfect to facilitate a new OC having their pick of an OL coach. A win win for all concerned.

I have a gut feeling (fwiw) that HH retiring means Ludwig is coming. Ludwig will now take on the role of the older experienced well travelled mentor offensive coach that HH was for TR and MF. And I hope it means Watt will be hired as OL coach for the balance of experienced OC amd young OL coach for recruiting dynamics.

Agree. I think Harry was done with coaching and came back to run one more time with "his guys" Rees and watt. I'm totally ok with that. I also wonder if he will stay in south bend and possibly help out a bit if needed likening the past.

The glass half full view is that we can bring in and olc in lock step with the oc and hit the ground running.

The glass half empty view is that hiring tommy really set the offensive staff under freeman back a year.
