I’m pulling for UGA but Bama has the seemingly superior coach and QB.
Not very many teams win titles without great QBs anymore.

They're very similar. I'm not sure Book is better. This is how Book looked against Good teamsI’m pulling for UGA but Bama has the seemingly superior coach and QB.

Agree, Bennett is nowhere near the caliber of JT Daniels. I watched Kirby earlier in the season say he was staying with Bennett because UGA was on a win streak.Smart is only comfy with the robotic type QB. Not smart, it is a waste of talent everywhere else.
They are saying Dart to UGA, but that is a bad player/coach fit for Dart.
Did Book ever win a playoff game, much less a championship? (Insert sarcasm here.)Is Bennett the winningest QB in history for Georgia? (Insert sarcasm here).

He can say though, he won a National Championship ... besides the QB in 80/81 when they beat ND (cannot remember his name) -- who else can say that?
THANKS! And yes, you are correct (or close to it). ND controlled almost all the stats -- but also had like 4 turnovers that game as well .. ughBuck Belue. He completed exactly 1 pass against us in the 1981 Sugar Bowl, as I recall.
Yup. I found the old box score. ND had 328 total yards compared to UGA's 127. But you aren't going to win a lot of games turning the ball over 4 times.THANKS! And yes, you are correct (or close to it). ND controlled almost all the stats -- but also had like 4 turnovers that game as well .. ugh
you just need to have the #1 or #2 or #3 recruiting class for 5 years in a row, and you need your opponents two NFL Wrs to go out injured. orrrrrrrrrrrrr you can have good recruiting classes every year, develop your players, and have a dynamic championship level QB.Proving once again you don't actually need a 5*, future pro, QB to win a national title. Was Mac Jones or Greg McElroy 5* all world recruits?
They were surrounded by 5 star talent all over the field that we cant get like themProving once again you don't actually need a 5*, future pro, QB to win a national title. Was Mac Jones or Greg McElroy 5* all world recruits?
Totally disagree, a generational QB isn't needed. QB is just one piece of the puzzle. Plenty of teams have won championships and super bowls without a generational QBThey were surrounded by 5 star talent all over the field that we cant get like them
We need a generational QB
Not in college. Unless you are surrounded by 5 star talent throughout the roster. All the recent non stud qbs that won a NC were surrounded by talent we cant getTotally disagree, a generational QB isn't needed. QB is just one piece of the puzzle. So we do need it. Alabama and Georgia might not need it, but we do
He was one for thirteen for seven yardsBuck Belue. He completed exactly 1 pass against us in the 1981 Sugar Bowl, as I recall.
It was our turn overs that was game overThey had H.Walker. That was game over.
Okay. But can you show one example in recent years where you dont need one or the otherAnother agree to disagree
Alabama has all that and then some, plus a Heisman winner at QB. The former walk-on outplayed him. They were surrounded by 5 star talent all over the field that we cant get like them
We need a generational QB
That's actually a pretty weak and obvious argument. You CAN win with a talented team and an average to above average QB. You WON'T win with a star/generational QB with an average to above average team. Basically, it's a ridiculous argument, you need talent throughout the roster, and coaching to win. Point being ND didn't not win a national title because of the latest QBs. We have weaknesses that wouldn't be overcome by a generational QB. Namely our secondary, and our OLine.Okay. But can you show one example in recent years where you dont need one or the other
ExactlyAlabama has all that and then some, plus a Heisman winner at QB. The former walk-on outplayed him.
Alabama has won 6 championships with non-generational QBs.
ND won't win a championship with a great QB and not much else (see Cincinnati, WVU, et al). You could argue that Clemson had generational QBs, but they also had studs all over the field too.
You could bring Montana back and still not win without the other pieces.
No kidding. With the talent that we can get, because we cant get Alabama and Georgia talent, you need that big time QBThat's actually a pretty weak and obvious argument. No kidding. But you can win with a Cam Newton and really good talentAlabama has all that and then some, plus a Heisman winner at QB. The former walk-on outplayed him.

We do NEED it. There is no way we are winning a NC with our talent level wothout a top QB.No team NEEDS it.
There have been many once a decade talents playing QB in college.
You know what that gets you? It gets you close. It gets you a decent season.
Elite teams NEED to have balance rushing and passing, textbook blocking and tackling, and great coaching putting the talent they do have in the best possible positions to succeed. Attacking a weakness and or devising plays not seen all year. (You do have nearly 4 weeks to prepare)
^^^^^^This^^^^^^
While great talent @ the QB spot helps and is the most important position in college today you absolutely positively NEED to play spot on offensively and defensively.
You need to out coach, out scheme and have great balance to win the elite games. We haven't had any of the above over the last dozen years and longer truth be told
Which is it? Top QB or once in a generation QB?We do NEED it. There is no way we are winning a NC with our talent level wothout a top QB.
Not happening.
A guy on the order of Cam Newton can carry a team offensively. But then you still need a D!Alabama has all that and then some, plus a Heisman winner at QB. The former walk-on outplayed him.

Elite QB. Is that okay for you dumb dumbWhich is it? Top QB or once in a generation QB?
LOL...
We need more than just that "top QB"
You need to stop playing Madden and understand the intricacies of how success in football really works
seems in your world, only you know a thing about football.Elite QB. Is that okay for you dumb dumb
You dont know a thing about football. You're a waste of time
Plenty people do. Just a lot on this board do not. But there is plenty of good knowledgeable posters on this board as well.seems in your world, only you know a thing about football.
