Riley Out Rest of Spring

this is a big deal ….. against the top teams
ND will need to rely on the D, play field position and keep scores down while trying to steal the game in the 4th Q.

No. They need to be more aggresive on O and put points on the board.

They've tried this way for like 15 years now

Bringing in Denbrock, Riley and the wrs they did says they will be more aggressive

Keep scores down? Steal games in the fourth quarter? That's not why Riley Leonard was recruited.

Who is the most
experienced QB on the roster?
most talented?
most coachable?

I said it when they took Leonard that he wouldn't make it past game 4 without being hurt. The guy is glass
The dude started 20 straight games in 2022 and 2023, then got hurt.

Riley Leonard was recruited for a reason. Marcus Freeman wants to win games, as many as possible, and the QB room without Leonard concerned him. A lot.

The most important ability is dependability.

WOW!! 20 whole games? Your numbers are off. The guy was hurt most of last year and hes STILL hurt.

It was 18 straight starts and then he got hurt when his leg almost snapped and everyone thought he would be out for a year and he came back to try and play

And RB Jadarian Price ruptured his achilles tendon. Badly. Out for months. Then returned last season. And played well.

There's a laundry list on injured football players who return and play well.

This is not 1965.

Most stress fractures heal by themselves, healing from surgery is usually a 6 to 8 week process, so I wonder why they made the decision to operate

I guess you know more than the staff. Minchey is given every opportunity, but can't seem to beat out Angeli. He's had all of last year to overtake Angeli as the 2 and couldn't. You are an idiot.

“Right now Steve is ahead of the other guys, just through experience and the evidence he’s shown us,” Freeman said.
Wow. Let's break this down dumbass

1. Dude was a freshman last year. He wasn't competing. Third string probably was getting 5% of reps with first string.
2. The #2 QB isn't always the guy that will take over for a big injury. It's likely that Angeli would be the backup if Riley goes down in a game this year but if he's out it's much more likely they let one of the expected starters next year get the play time.
3. You need to learn what coach speak in the spring is. 60% true and usually targeted motivation. He wants a young guy to step up.
4. Cj carr has been on campus for a few months. Minchey has barely any snaps. Shouldn't the 3rd year open enrollee with a huge snap count lead start the spring ahead? If he didn't he shouldn't be on the team.

And how can he do that from the trainers table?

All I know is, in his 2nd year Angeli has put up some impressive stats. Granted most of it in mop up duty and a bowl game, but still, he may be going against a 2nd team defense, but he's also playing with a 2nd team offense, so it's all relative .

34-44 77.3% 504 total yards 11.5 YPA 7TD 1INT QBR 221.4 The kids a gamer and he's showing he's a winner.

10-2 gets ND in the playoff. You are not very bright.
12 and 0 and 11 and 1 guarantee a spot in the Playoffs

10 and 2 with this year's schedule we'd be on the bubble.

10 and 2 in a given year we could be anywhere from like 9 through 15

So no 10 and 2 does not get you in the Playoff ever year. It would be close

Hes won 1 game so far so I mean let's chill out on that one.

Can he be a winner, yeah. But we have no clue if he is

Thanks but Angeli has shown he can move the team in an actual game. Not sure what Minchey has proven.....
Against who? Steve Angeli has not faced real competition.

And if Marcus Freeman thought Steve Angeli can win in College Station, Riley Leonard would not be at Notre Dame.

If you look at the two from a recruiting perspective, Angeli was rated higher and had far better offers than Leonard.

This tells me the staff is not confident in developing their own QB's. They are going to the well and really taking a gamble on an unknown. Leonard has had one good season with a schedule that was not all that impressive, and he's been pretty much hurt since.

Marcus Freeman has spent two years with Steve Angeli and decided that a QB upgrade in 2024 was needed. Especially in game 1.

Enter 18 starts and 4,000 passing yards senior to be Riley Leonard.

Hurt? RB Jadarian Price ruptured an achilles tendon. Badly. Out for many months.

Now he plays. And well.

This is dumb. Angeli was also a higher rated recruit than Josh Allen. So would you not have taken him if he was available?

You're just overthinking the whole situation. They see Leonard as very talented and a better QB than Angeli with more experience. It's really that simple and not complicated at all

If you think Leonard is a gamble with 20 career starts how is Angeli with 1 career start not way more of a gamble?

Leonard is much more talented than Steve. Hes had 1 injury in his career.

You also didnt mention Duke was 10 and 25 the 3 years before Riley took over as starter. And then wen 13 and 5 before he was injured. Does that not count?

This is very simple and not complicated

Coaches make mistakes. Remember 10 men on the field vs OSU?

Lets bench Morrison. He's injured. Injury prone. And Mitchell Evans. And Eli Raridon. And JaDarian Price. Jayden Thomas with all those hamstring issues last year we shouldnt even let him compete

Lets sit all these guys. Just dumb
