He absolutely sux. Can’t throwwhat a joke
Bs. Put Carr in.I’d be very surprised if he isn’t starting. I’m not sure if that was his or 1’s fault in that out cut.
I think he gives ND the best chance to win.
How do you know? A true freshman vs a successful senior. I also said that before the pick, not that it changes much.Bs. Put Carr in.
Yup. That type of game losing play is something you live with from a rookie nfl qb on a rebuilding team. Not a 3rd year starter on a national title contenderStop with the rent-a-qb now your seasons over, play Carr and build towards 25. They won’t.
ND would have won the game with Angelli, Carr imo. Riley has been a BAD passer and has not been nearly good enough in first 2 games. Very inaccurate. Develop a qb has been the number 1 problem for the program for a long time.I’d be very surprised if he isn’t starting. I’m not sure if that was his or 1’s fault in that out cut.

Yes, seems from an outsider's perspective, at least, the more REASONED CHOICE. So, I agree.I'd rather go with Angeli. He played really well in the Sun Bowl, and has very good accuracy.
Head Coaches hire coordinators to call plays and navigate an offense and defense.I have no idea who should be the starting QB. I still am no Xs and Os expert. But I do know talent...and Leonard lacks it, having many liabilities, especially throwing deep passes, like many of you noted.
I am depressed thinking ND might not have a good QB situation. I have very little faith MF and Denbrock can figure it out. Denbrock clearly called a poor game plan.
By now, it seems MF doesn't coach. Correct me if I am wrong, but he delegates rather than coaches. Prefers being a motivator rather than game planning and play calling. Don't know, just seems that way.
I do know he's blown it with regards to QB. He's never gotten that right.

How in the hell do you know that he does not coach.
Why don't you convince me that he doesn't.1st of all, I didn't say he definitely doesn't. Read.
2nd, convince me that he does.
Why don't you convince me that he doesn't.
You're the one throwing out accusations.
Exactly, he's another Dabo Swinnery! That's what I always thought of him as. And if he was ever going to be a great coach it would be in that vein.....I have no idea who should be the starting QB. I still am no Xs and Os expert. But I do know talent...and Leonard lacks it, having many liabilities, especially throwing deep passes, like many of you noted.

My fear has always been that, at worst, he'd be basically a FIGUREHEAD.I have no idea who should be the starting QB. I still am no Xs and Os expert. But I do know talent...and Leonard lacks it, having many liabilities, especially throwing deep passes, like many of you noted.

I think he's an average to above average coordinator but not a natural as a head coach. Always felt he'd need BRAINIAC assistants.
To me, Freeman's chances are NO BETTER than 50/50. If the team underperforms this season, his odds will naturally drop. This scenario was my worst case...and unfortunately seems to be coming true.
Actually the problem is the HC is having too much input in the Offense . Wish he'd get out of the way and delegate the Offense completely. Denbrock s Offense at LSU averaged 40+ points the past 2 years. ND scored 14 points at home today against a MAC school . Same number of points ND scored at home against a 3-9 Stanford team in a 16-14 loss. Common denominator is Marcus Freeman. Marcus Freeman has handcuffed his Offense in a very conservative offensive take no risks rely on your defense philosophy . Maybe the problems with Offensive coordinator play calling was not Rees, or Parker but the HC. Freeman was a linebacker in college and a D coordinator. And a disciple of Jim Tressel. Freeman s philosophy and approach don't fit today's era of college football. Where you need to put up over 30 + points to winI have no idea who should be the starting QB. I still am no Xs and Os expert. But I do know talent...and Leonard lacks it, having many liabilities, especially throwing deep passes, like many of you noted.

Best chance to win? Jesus how sad is that. This kid is a great kid, but he can't throw, he's a bad QB. Give an actual QB a shotI’d be very surprised if he isn’t starting. I’m not sure if that was his or 1’s fault in that out cut.

True or false, an EXCELLENT OBSERVATION. And to me, it has LEGS.Actually the problem is the HC is having too much input in the Offense . The reason is obvious, we have no receivers or QB that is even close to what LSU hadTrue or false, an EXCELLENT OBSERVATION. And to me, it has LEGS.
Remember watching LSU last year? They were an OFFENSIVE HOUSE ON FIRE. Chunk play/high scoring city.
I mean, how could Denbrook suddenly become STUPID by simply returning UP NORTH. If you can shred SEC defenses, why can't you put points up on NIU?
Denbrook may have left a better working environment for a worse one.
I guess we'll find out.

That's right, and I just made the SAME POINT in another post. The reason is obvious, we have no receivers or QB that is even close to what LSU had
When your QB can't throw it far enough to hit an open receiver for a TD, and instead throws it 5 yards short for an interception, it's more than just Freeman. Freeman is definitely to blame, for anointing a QB and not having a proper QB competition, because there is no way in hell Leonard is better than Angeli.Actually the problem is the HC is having too much input in the Offense . ND doeson't get the MARQUEE GAMECHANGERS ON OFFENSE.
It can't pull away and blow games open when it has to.
NO AIR POWER EXTRA GEAR.
I've never doubted Freeman's INTRINSIC UNFITNESS -- coaching-wise -- but how do you account for Denbrock who had a lights-out offense at LSU last year? To me, it's clear that he had a much better QB and better receivers and a terrific, rangy tight end. This team has some very good players. Even in skill positions on O. It's the QB and OC that has been a recurring issue...a very good QB makes ND a much more consistent team. A good OC might bring in and develop a QB better, with an appropriate game plan.
Again, it takes many things to be an elite team. I'm with you that ND lacks what Alabama, Ohio State, occasionally Michigan, now Texas have with top talent in depth. ND is not there by any means.
But ND is far and above Marshall, Stanford, and NI. Should able to smash-mouth them. That to me is on the coach. MF. And with Denbrock, per my 1st paragraph.

It was the head coaching for sure that was deficient, but NOT ONLY the head coaching.
It was the players WHO GOT PUSHED AROUND ON THE FIELD. ND's inexperienced OL somehow performed against A&M, but it didn't do so against NIU. That's inexperience or just getting WHUPPED.
Plus, I've felt from the outset that the DL is far from invincible as well.
And how about the OTHER TEAM WANTED IT more? I'm sure NIU's coaches reckoned that they could beat ND and went out and did it.
ND's failure was COMPLETE and across the board.
