Positives from the Year

The defensive line has given astounding effort all year long. Every play, every down.
Day and Rochell deserve a lot of credit for their leadership, play and passion.
Daniel Cage 's contributions have been awesome.

Jaylon Smith has been a tackling machine.
The offensive line has been as advertised. The pass blocking has been awesome.
Kizer has been better than you could have imagined. He's a leader, poised and makes plays. That 3rd and 5 run was so huge in that SC game.
CJ Procise is the best running back since Reggie Brooks.
Chris Brown has played up to his potential and has been involved every game.
Will Fuller is an all-American. He's unreal. No one is faster than this guy.
Special Teams- coverage is good, the punting is good.
CJ Sanders is exciting. Best guy since Tate.
Yoon is a very good kicker.

The kickoffs haven't been good all year. We need someone to legit- boom them in the end zone.
USC was starting every drive minimum at the 35.

Eliminate poor safety depth, tackle better, generate more of a pass rush and kickoff better.

great points all of them, kicker and punter have far exceeded expectations of 2 rookies and I think newsome is more than capable of reaching the endzone or goal line on kickoffs, yesterdays short kicks were intentional.

2 things that have hurt and otherwise great effort by our defense, angles taken by safeties and missed tackles ... but lets not forget the other teams give scholarships too.

Those are all good points, I'll add a few of my own (some echo OPs):

1. I hope with the bye we get some guys back and healthy. I think Sebastian could come back which will help our safety depth.

2. I try not to bag on players but I think in this system, Farley is not a straight out safety, by gosh we need redfield to step forward in a big way. He seemed to respond late yesterday. Him stepping forward, Sebastian for depth, and Farley back to his nickel role, will be big for our back end.

3. Boy it's getting hard to watch schmitty miss all these tackles. He's such a tough kid and I root like heck for him, but we need him to finish. He's not near the player he was pre injury. Hopefully the week off will help him too.

4. Kizer, my god not enough gets said about him and the job he's done. He holds the ball too long sometimes but overall under the circumstances, just amazing. I think people have forgotten he's a rsfr and forgotten about all of our injuries. It's not a story line nationally because how well coached these guys are and have stepped up. It should not be forgotten were still playing through a ton of injuries.

Oh I almost forgot IT IS SO SWEET beating SC!!!

ANGLES.......#1 basic skill for DB's to work on. I had forgot about Sebastian--Hope he helps!

TRICK PLAYS......#2. Some player made a comment about NOT practicing much for them. Lordy do we NEED practice!!!

Well said Epictitus -- please watch Kelly post game presser . He is as knowledgeable as a coach can be and he handles the media w respect and dignity .

I will say this flat out and will not back off this statement -- if one does not like Brian Kelly as football coach and leader of this program they

• know NOTHING about football
• they know nothing about judging a man's character
• they are not true ND fans
• likely have personal issues of some sort that won't be worked out on a football message board
