Poll: Zaire or Kizer (and why)

Which QB Zaire or Kizer

I'm seeing a lot of comments here about using Zaire in the red zone. First off, I don't see any scenario, in which Kelly would want to do this, unless he felt forced to do so. Such as Rees/Hendrix package. Historically, you can tell Kelly prefers to stick with one guy.

Secondly, what exactly is Zaire going to do in the red zone that Kizer can't? Sure Zaire has more speed, but it's not as if Kizer doesn't have legs. Plus Kizer is a big body that take a defender or two with him as he crosses the goal line.

Both of them played pretty well today. Thought Kizer looked a little better. But they have different strengths. Zaire's a better runner, but Kizer's a more accurate passer. Will be a very tough decision for Kelly.

Malik, IMO, because he makes quicker decisions and doesn't turn the ball over.
Lol, there is no real data set to come to these conclusions. This is made-up message board stuff.

I can respect if people prefer Zaire but these reasons are fabricated. Doesn't turn the ball over? He played in 1.5 games. Makes quicker decision? Lol again, 1.5 games.

Where are you coming up with that?

Zaire played the following games at the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015
USC - 2 quarters
LSU - 4 quarters
Texas - 4 quarters
Virginia - 3 quarters

Zaire started for ND in 13 quarters (3.25 games)

That's certainly enough games to take some statistics away from, though it's important to note that we're only talking about 3-4 games

I truly hope Kelly comes up with a redzone package for MZ the way Urban did for Tebow at Florida in one of his NC seasons.

Keep hoping bro. Kelly doesn't like 2 QB systems. As I posted before I don't understand the reason for having a redzone package for Zaire anyway. What is that Kizer can't do in the redzone that Zaire can?
Kelly: We can't go with a two-quarterback system http://es.pn/1SyXoFr -via ESPN http://es.pn/app

If you read that, you'd see that Kelly specifically notes that there can be a role/package for a 2nd QB, so......

And the answer to your question is quite simple:
Zaire is a dynamic play maker with his feet who can force teams for focus heavily on the zone-read and make the red-zone offense more run-based....Kizer just isn't good at making plays with his feet in tight spaces, unless they're just a couple yards straight ahead

Kizer looked like an elite QB last year to me while still being very raw/green in terms of experience. This indicates a ton of potential. I think it's Kizer no question.

Of course he's gonna say there CAN be a package. He didn't say will. He's doing an interview on national TV and is clearly using it as an opportunity to create speculation and hype. And if you've followed how Kelly uses QBs, he doesn't like taking his starter out. Just look at how long he stuck with Rees and Golson, before giving Hendrix or Zaire a chance.

As for Zaire being a dynamic play maker, there's no argument there. But I don't understand the criticism towards Kizer not being able to make plays in tight spaces and he brings just as much attention from the defense in terms of the zone read. Both run it very well.
