-Alabama just squeaks by LSU in a very close game

-FSU beats Clemson

Of course that assumes we win. Losing to Pitt would be our biggest nightmare.

I agree totally on LSU/Bama. I think less on Clemson. 1000% on we need to win

Go Irish, control what you can control.

Exactly. ND can only do what we can do on the field. We can't control what happens in other games.

ND just needs to win vs. Pitt and keep winning. They need to control what they can and the others issues will sort themselves out. ND SOS will help them, just win.

FSU is going to beat Clemson. Sadly. That won't do much to hurt the Irish.
The killer will be Oklahoma winning the remaining games...which means they beat, Ok st. , Baylor, TCU, .
They will jump up then.

A bama win this weekend means very little because whoever from the west is going to match up against Florida in the sec title game.

If we win out....then Stanford turns around and obliterates it's opponent in the Pac 12....that will cement us in.

Oh the what ifs just keep coming.

Well, Heather Dinich just wrote an article and states that ND can't afford a loss to Pitt this weekend. I gotta stop going to ESPN.com

If Clemson loses one game this year to FSU or the conference title game to UNC that will help ND. It's not going to hurt ND. I want LSU to whoop up on Bama. That's what we need to root for then a 10-1 ND heading out to top-10 Stanford, hopefully. People need to let it all play out. ND is in a good spot. Chill out until Kelly makes another coaching error then you can go crazy.

Actually , FSU beating Clemson works in ND's favor IMHO.

If that happens Clemson is out (assuming FSU beats NCST). No chance at conference champ. No chance at top four.

FSU would still have to go to the swamp and beat a higher ranked UF who looks like will be playing in the SECCG. FSU loses and there likely would be no ACC rep in the top four. Even if FSU wins it at 10-2. Opening up a slot for an 11-1 ND who might otherwise be on the outside looking in if the committee is as locked into conference champs as most believe.

If Clemson wins out that's one slot guaranteed of the top four. One less slot for ND consideration.

Bottom line IMHO is ND should hope for a close FSU victory this weekend.

I'm no Dinich fan but she's right. A 10-2 ND has zero chance for the playoffs.

We can only control what we do on the field is right, but, it is still a lot of fun cheering for teams to win that you would normally not cheer for, watching the box scores, and discussing the play-offs within an inch of its life. College football is the best.

You make a good argument. My thought is, if you are going to be measured against the other one loss teams at the end, it can't hurt to have your loss be by two points on the road against the #1 rated team. So, in that way, Clemson staying #1 helps us. But yeah, having FSU beat Clemson, then lose to Florida, then win the ACC Championship, is a dream scenario for an 11-1 ND, who just knocked off the #1 team in the Pac 12 to end up 11-1.

an LSU overtime Loss will be cause for espn to push for a pair of SEC teams in the final four.
It has happened before.

We get Mitchell back at safety so this will help in the nickel package. Expecting a physical game. We will also have Fralic, Covert, Marino, Dorsett and Ditka on our sideline!

I agree, should be rooting for FSU this weekend. With a win they may not even jump ND and if they do they still have UF waiting.

Won't happen unless Florida loses again and two sec west teams have one loss.

Having Said that ole miss can still actually get involved and represent the west. They play LSU yet, hold a tie breaker over the tide....
Things could get to all sorts of what ifs pending Saturdays outcome bama, Lsu

She also is one of the few ESECPN people that says if ND wins out they are in and she is the committee insider. So
give her a break.
