I actually think Boise would be a very favorable matchup for ND. I can easily see Jeanty getting 150 but needing 35-40 carries to get it. The ND stable of backs would likely go over 200 in 25 carries or so. It's a physical mismatch. Citing games from way early in the season is useless at this point in time. Anyone with a shred of football knowledge understands that teams evolve over the course of a season .
Is your ounce of football knowledge referring to the physical mismatch like we had against NIU?
The fact remains BSU has one loss to the #1 in the country. Could have won that game.
We lost to the 7th team in the MAC in NIU at home.
They've been played. It's history.
Does that mean anything if we play BSU? Not much other than they've shown they can play with anyone and we've shown we can lose to anyone.
That's simply a fact.
BUT...
What does mean something...
We have the 52nd best defense against the run.
BSU has the 17th best defense against the run.
We are the 10th best rushing team in the county. That's great.
BSU, however, has the 5th best in the country.
BSU has the 5th best offense overall.
Our Offense...42nd.
Why this is a bad matchup for us...
If Jeanty gets rolling that means we don't have the football. The very thing we do to the opposition because lord knows we can't pass, they do even better than we do.
Jeanty put a 190 spot on Oregon..the 22nd ranked team against the run..
Again, we are 52nd against the run.
If Jeanty gets going we're in trouble.
We don't have the quick strike offense to counter Jeanty and we're MUCH MORE one dimensional than BSU.
I'm not worried about any of the other 11 teams.
BSU is just the team I want to play the least.
Two things that do concern me.
Getting behind by 14 or more quick points....against any team...
Chasing Jeanty around for 60 minutes. Is a major concern.
We demoralize a defense when we shred them rushing the ball...
That ship goes both ways.
