OT: Death, Taxes and Lebron James

“To quote MJ "F them kids." Lebron has been a superstar for 20+ years & I have no problem with him or any athlete not wanting some stranger even if its a teenager thinking they can come up & demand a picture with them when they are in their private life.”

Mj was a d1ck too, but in a little bit of a different way. As for you not caring if an athlete is an ahole to a kid wanting an autograph, congrats. Star gazers excuse a lot of shitty stuff stars do, Lebrenda being one of the bigger culprits. But adore away, it’s a free country.
Michael was a dick, true; however, there is something about his brand and persona that sets him apart, which is illustrated in MJ's shoe sales, which outsells everyone even to this day long after MJ retired. 6.6 billion in annual sales, 26 years after MJ's last title. By comparison, LeBron is around 350 million.

All I know is Lebron at age 39 was voted best player by his USA teammates & was the MVP of the Olympics. I dont get your logic that MJ can sell shoes so that exempts him from being the same ahole you despise Lebron for being.

Sell shoes? The Jordan brand is a global phenomenon.

I don’t hate LeBron. The dudes DNA is simply not my style.

I live in so California. I wish LeBron was anywhere but here. Outstanding player, I simply wish he would have stayed in Cleveland.

And frankly, IMO, he has no real passionate fan following around here. Nothing remotely close to Kobe.
Nothing weird about it. The latest post was about the wannabe Goats character (or lack thereof) and shunning a kid at the Olympics.. clearly upset he was over shadowed by Steph (has been for a decade). So yea this post is right on cue how he’s been received by the city.

One thing I do find weird, is the state of CA Libby’s not smoking his pole like Golson.

🤣🤣🤣 this is hilarious stuff, thank you for this

Like at USC his freshman year, would not start on many many college teams.

That said, good for them.

He absolutely would this year. He'll be a good G league player for a couple years then he should be a rotation piece in the NBA

Good defender, good athlete

He didn’t start on a lousy USC team last year.

He’s an undersized 6-1 guard who does not handle the ball well enough to play PG, and he isn’t a great or even good outside shooter.

Hell, many bbl players can defend.

You realize he suffered cardiac arrest in July before his freshman year and missed 4 months of practice and basketball training right? He wasn't even able to play basketball until after the college year started

He's a very good defender and in this NBA where not everyone loves to defend, that's very valuable

He's 6'2" with long arms and is athletic and can defend. That will get you a spot in the league

I watched him in high school and college. He doesn’t shoot well, average athleticism, and doesn’t handle the bbl particularly well.

He’s in the NBA tonight because of who his dad is.

If you think he's an average athlete, then you haven't watched him much

Year 22 and Lebron gets to play with his son. I expect Bronny to go to the G League soon, but this moment is historic.
Historically ghey. No offense to your fandom Raul

Both blow.

Lebron talking about their horrible transition D and how "they" need to get back. No LeBron, just you're lazing stat-padding ass needs to get back.

Nobody thinks it's legit historical when the only reason young buck is in the league is bcuz daddy held the Lakers feet to the fire.

I don't even need to bring Marcus and Larry into it, but will. Marcus Jordan averaged 15ppg as a sophomore and 14ppg as a junior at UCF. I didn't see MJ forcing the league to draft him for some BS spectacle. What did Baby Bron average at USC, like 5ppg?

Top 2 alltime:

Pg: Larry Jordan
SG: Mike Jordan

If I was Cleveland I would have drafted Bronny in the 2nd round just to ruin the whole thing for LeBron.

Cheers Duke.. Raul Duke

What a joke. Labronny has zero business in the NBA. If his daddy wasn't Labrenda, he would never set foot on an NBA court.
It's killing you as a Jordan nuthugger that Lebron just keeps on being great. The man is in his 22nd year, his kid plays on his team and he is about to turn 40 and he is still a top 5 player. Gotta be tough.

Top 5 players with All Star and Olympian Anthony Davis as a teammate losing badly in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs does not add up.

Come on Raul. Yes, we are Jordan nuthuggers, and Lebron WAS great, and is currently GOOD. 22nd year = phenomenal. Who wouldn't want to play on the same team as their kid, great for them. Top 5 player in the league right now? No way. They still *cough* play defense in the league right?

All we ask is call a spade a spade. Bronny James has zero business being in the league, let alone a guaranteed 4 yr contract. Yes or no?

Flying in the Griffey's is BS. Griffey JR was better than his father and possibly a top 10 MLB of all time. Both were legitimate major league players. Bronny wasn't even good at the college level. It's a joke and not a good look for the league. Simply my opinion.

Cool story, Lebron was voted best player by his US teammates, won the MVP for Olympics and Shaq and Kenny last night had him him in their top 5, but please go on talking your nonsense....I even put out the preseason rankings and there aint to many people who gonna take Embiid, Tatum or SGA over Lebron if they were picking teams. Cope and seethe sport 😂

Wilt Chamberlain once had a game where he put up the following numbers. This is in one game:
53 pts, 32 rebounds, 14 assists, 24 blocks, 11 steals.

Jordan won the scoring title 10 times, defensive title 1 time plus defense first team selection 9 times, 6-0 in the finals (two 3-peats) when they actually played defense.

Many can, but few do. All we really have to go by is his one year at college. Poor and inconsistent shooter without pg instincts or ball handling. Would not have been drafted if not for his dad, and even questionable if signed to a G league contract. Impossible to know the impact of his heart attack on his freshman year performance, but he missed a lot of practice time and playing opportunities. Thought he would have benefitted from a transfer to the WCC at a school like St Mary’s, but his name notoriety is both a blessing and a curse. At this point, he will play in the G league for two or three years, and if he really dedicates himself to playing on ball defense and develops a reliable three point set shot, he will eventually earn a spot as a role player in the NBA. Keon Ellis of the Kings would be a good role model.

I think Jordan's sons played college ball. But you're so desperate to carry water for Lebron, and be his willing, joyful lickspittle, that you're now gloating over his son actually making the NBA too, which is a noteworthy circumstance. Totally inapplicable and irrelevant in every possible way, other than to suggest or even overweeningly declare that Lebron's very DNA can be shown to be of the higher order than MJ's. But impossible not to gloat over for a wallowing fanboy like yourself. And fairly gross as well I would say, and most people with a moment's pause or reflection would recoil a bit from such servile, unseemly veneration. Let the kid stand on his own. The father's sins shall not be the son's burden and all that. And just generally sort of unAmerican. Of course he would have good athletic genes, he would also have every possible advantage under the sun, especially in our decadent age of imperialistic nepotism. But you're so abject that you can't help but glory in this factoid, which probably says more about our society at large than it does Lebron James.

Bottom line being... Still and always will... MJ>>>Lebron-bron.

I noted the historic event didnt say anything other than that. Then the haters chimed in with the insults. Look you and the other posters have a right to your opinions but dont go and cry like toddlers when you pick a fight and the other kid punches back.

The Bronny stuff is fair game and I get the nepotism charges but Lebron being a top 5 player was done on merit. He was one of the best players on the US Team that won Gold. Tatum and Embiid were getting DNP's on that team. Shaq, Kenny who both played and cover the NBA for over 20 years had Lebron in their top 5. The 3 NBA rankings had him at 7 with Embiid and Tatum ahead of him on those list. So yes to be 40 and in your 22nd yr to still be one of the best has never been done in NBA history.

Fair post.

Lebron is NOT a top 5 player right now tho. If there was a draft for one season (not drafting based on future potential) Lebron still would not be taken at 5 or even top 10. He simply is not capable of being the best player on any team right now and carrying them through the season and into the playoffs. Yes, he can still put up stats because he knows the game. He shoots 3's and in the paint 2's. He is a liability on defense. He is not a good free throw shooter. He is too ball dominant (at this point in his career) and stagnates the offense.

That list of 25 players you posted with Lebron at 8, I would take every player on that list ahead of Lebron with the exception of Kevin Durant and Bam Adebayo. We talking one season, 2024... has nothing to do with his career.

Fox and Massey at 24/25 and Lebron at 8 is absolutely crazy.

Lebron would be an excellent 3rd option on a championship level team playing PF with a focus on rebounding and low-post offense.

You're playing into this guy's argument about Lebraon's greatness you know. You realize that, yeah? That you would even be deliberating whether he's a top five or top ten player in the league at age 40+, inherently speaks to his transcendent awesomeness, and only draws attention to it by default. And the only thing that matters vis a vis the Jordan/Bronbron debate is who's better. And nobody really knows.

I say it's Jordan.

Whos crying? Its quite obvious bronny would have never set foot on an NBA court unless he was Lafloppys son. You sound like a member of the James family with your top 5 nonsense

We just saw it play out over the summer during Olympics. Lebron won MVP of the tournament and was one of the best players for the US. Tatum and Embiid were role players. As for Defense Lebron was defending Ant last night & when it was crunch time in Olympics Lebron was guarding Joker and he was effective doing it. You maybe right that this is the year father time taps Lebron on the shoulder and tells him its over but as of today Lebron is a top 5/10 player.

Top 5 players with All Star and Olympian Anthony Davis as a teammate should not be losing badly in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Something does not add up.

I don't think he's top 5 today. But certainly top 12

The Nuggets were/are a bad matchup for the Lakers. They made the Conf Finals the year before and got destroyed by the nuggets. This past year they just caught them in the first rd. Bad matchup. They don't have the size to defend Jokic and Murray destroys all of LAs guards.

Lebron on the olympics at this point in his career is a perfect role for him because his passing and basketball IQ is elite, so he can fully take advantage of the elite players surrounding him. That was the last dance for Durant, Curry and James, and probably Kerr. We have no clue how Tatum/Embid would have faired had the minutes been swapped - they might have won in a more dominant fashion.

I would also like to learn more about the balco situation.

But I am not blind to the fact I have Jordan bias. But I also have John Elway bias and absolutely HATED folks saying Montana was the better qb. I would have liked to drop Elway onto those 49er teams and seen what he could have done. The gap b/w Montana and Elway is WAY closer than the gap b/w MJ and Lebron in my opinion. The reasons why have been debated ad nauseum.

I would like to see more effort from NBA players, less palming/carrying/traveling, and I am ready for LBJ to retire. I do hope you enjoy the season though!

Lakers lost that series to the defending champs on 2 buzzer beaters by Murray. Porter played out of his mind and Laker's "others" shot below 30% that series. Lebron and AD did their part. What doesnt add up is why a USC fan like yourself spends his time trolling a ND message board.
