Northwestern vs Temple

Northwestern doesn't win big. We play a grind it out ball control offense. Temple's pass rush could cause us some problems with a suspect Oline and a Freshman QB that's still a bit unsure of himself and a lack of great WRs. Our defense would shut down temple though. I would predict a 24-14 type of victory for the Cats. And as the only person here who has watched each team play more than once, just take my word for it.

Two irrelevant programs. I could care less who would win, although I do have a newfound distaste for NU after this morning.
No attacking other posters. If you feel the need to harass another poster, don't do it. What is considered attacking other posters?
Bringing up their name in posts that they did not start or were not involved in, just to get a reaction from them.

I guess you're ok with ignoring rules and blaming everyone else for stuff. I mean you accept that the playoff committee is ignoring the rule on common opponents so why would I think you wouldn't ignore the rule about attacking other posters.

Are you a child? The playoff committee has GUIDELINES, it has almost no rules. Guidelines are ignored all the time, depending on circumstances.
Kind of a silly poll. What would you expect results to be on a non-Northwestern site?
Can you guys make up your mind. I though first games were just flukes and don't count. That's the best explanation (given it's a terrible one) for why Notre Dame is ranked higher than Northwestern even though we shut down Stanford and you lost to them. So you can't argue that Northwestern Stanford doesn't count and then turn around and say Penn State Temple counts.
Either way, I don't like margin of victory arguments and don't accept them. The goal of the game is to win, not to win by the most points. As such, Northwestern plays a ball control offense with an elite defense. It has gotten us to 10 wins in the best conference in the country with a top ten OOC game. It works for us, but we're not going to blow people out.
The committee has a mandate. That means it's mandatory.
Keep whining. It will really accomplish a lot, half-wit. And no, that's not a personal attack. It's a statement of fact.

Enough about history. Northwestern was a bad program for a long period, especially in the 1970s and 1980s when the University's presidents were actively trying to discourage athletics thinking trying to avoid a reputation of being dumb jocks. Then we got Gary Barnett who recruited Fitz, and we turned things around. Are we the best program in that 20 year stretch? No, but we're not at the back either. So let's keep things centered around recent history. In recent history, one of our worst teams beat one of your better teams. That was last year. You wanna replay the game? Come up to Ryan Field. We'll play the game.

Wrong again. ND's team last year was NOT one of our better teams. Likely the worst team under Kelly due to innumerable injuries. We lost our last four regular season games. Nice attempt to make yourself feel better though.
Don't fool yourself - Northwestern is still a bad program that nobody gives a rats arse about except a few alums ........look for another quick mean reverting season back to the bottom of the BIG where you pretty much are the home coming opposition on everybody's schedule.

They have one bowl win since 1950! They only have a winning record against one Big10 team, that being the powerhouse of Indiana.
I needed to try and understand the thought process of why someone would come here, and argue with literally everyone about a silly ranking that doesn't really mean that much anyway. And now I think I understand why he came here and brought his 'soap box' with him........ This is NU's best season (or close to) in a very long time. I imagine he will cry about this travesty of being ranked behind ND for years.... Much like we complain about the penalty on Tim Brown's return or the Bush Push.
I think Mike and Mike need to talk about what a horror this ranking system is....... Should be their top story (although I think Greenburgh would not agree with our friend Shakes).

i see, the past doesn't count because it contradicts your argument. here's one fact. northwestern is an absolute afterthought in todays landscape of college football. totally inconsequential.
And despite that lone bowl win, beating ND in 2014 and 1995 are still the two biggest things to happen to that "program."
I thought the 2014 Notre Dame team was better than the 2010 and 2011 teams. I was at the Notre Dame Pitt Game at Heinz field in 2013 and was pretty unimpressed. The defense seemed like they got fat and happy after your great 2012 year. 8-5 with a bowl win over LSU is quite impressive.
Yes, ancient history is bad to Northwestern, but it doesn't matter what happened in 1953. I wasn't born for another 30 years.
First how would you know if you are the only person to have seen these teams more than once? Second you fellas barely beat a mediocre Penn State team that Temple handled easily. Now you can argue that Temple caught Penn State in the first game of the year but that would hurt your argument when one considers Northwesterns win over Stanford. As for Northwestern not winning big I'll give you that, they do however lose big, and that's what would happen in a contest with Temple. Finally having too much respect for the d-bags of the world I would never tag you with that moniker.
No, but in this case history does matter. It is the reason you are here. You are missing my point. The only reason you are crying/arguing/debating about this ranking (which has led to this post) is because finishing this year ranked a few rungs higher than you currently are, is a big deal to you and possibly the entire NU fanbase. Like I said earlier, that could be the only reason I can think of that would drive someone to come here and start debating everyone and everything.
Think about it, you jumped in head first for the last two days to "discuss" why NU is not ranked higher than ND. A lot of people have given you a lot of answers to your original question, but you keep clinging to a couple things (Committees standards and beating us last year). But in my opinion there is only one way to answer your question, and it is 38-0 and 40-10. And save the effort of typing out "margin of victory is not supposed to win." Because it obviously does, especially when you get completely waxed two weeks in a row.
I wish NU was good at another sport, so you could focus your attention on that, but to the best of my knowledge they are only known for a smart school that produces good journalists?
Well I am guessing our friend Shakes is not an actor or a journalist. But I think he could make a good politician. Likes to stir up stuff to push his own agenda, and only uses stats and facts that support his beliefs.
