Wow. By that logic, Nebraska has an unfair advantage of seeing our guys in the spring game and then trying to recruit them. Lol.
I think that's like a temper tantrum. Nebraska stole players from other schools themselves, and I think in the case of Nebraska they totally tampered, and not just moseying on over to the portal to see who was available and then humbly extending an offer with everything on the up and up. But they did lose some key guys it looks like and Matt Rhule is basically stamping his foot like a petulant bitch.
NIL is a reward to programs with more money than local talent. Nebraska should be one of the major beneficiaries. From the scores last year, the Huskers are taking baby steps.
I know, Nebraska in theory would be a total beneficiary. They are tailor made for it. And it's on them to keep their good players, and just get the money from your devoted fanbase. But they're still not as rich as Texas A&M or whatnot.
The game is not canceled, it just won’t be on TV for other teams to watch. . AD doesn’t want to lose out the money that game makes. It’s just another thing NIL/ transfer portal ruined. Even though it it doesn’t mean much, getting to watch some football in April was always something to lok forward to.
It didn't ruin it. You don't have to cancel the spring game. Everything's normal and not ruined. And you can put it on TV for anyone to watch. The notion that you can't do it and NIL has forced your hand, because these players who used to be your property, once they signed, and they were kind of stuck there, is bullshit. And you're still treating them like they're your property. So don't be surprised if your coach or AD gets sued, for deliberately refusing to air the spring game and deliberately hindering his players' visibility.
In fact what your coach ought to do is go ahead and kick down a couple million, at least, from his annual salary, towards your collective, and then maybe players won't be so apt to leave.
