The defense played the option great. For the most part they stayed disciplined and it paid off.
Having said that ND looked like it had no idea how to stop the fullback on the swing route. They had no answer for it and it was a simple one.
Joe Schmidt just needs to scream switch or break and Jaylon now knows the FB didn't dive and is heading to the edge. Joe couldn't cover him but Jaylon could have. Potentially that might have been a new play they just put in ....but shame on Notre Dame for getting burned on that same exact play a second time. Jaylon could even clearly see the FB coming around the edge and not the dive. Especially when the FB ignored him that could have told him something is up and cover the FB. Let's just hope it was a brand new play for GT. That FB was tough and will have a nice Sunday career. They could have given him the dive all game and he would have rapped off 4-5 yards average.

Will Fuller is turning into a top 10 selection in the draft. His ball skills are off the charts now. He worked real hard on that. Good stuff!!!

Not going to point out one lineman but as a unit the false starts are now inexcusable!!! If kiser just got in the game sure the cadence is different...but they had all God damn week listening to his cadence. Unacceptable!

Outside of the above mistakes the rushing game was A++
Some was the line but more was procise. He is a natural runner in traffic. He has the unique ability to make himself thin at times and skate on a tackle....then big again at time of contact. Of course his speed is elite. If it wasn't for a #7 in the Bayou there would be some grumbling of the H word beginning about C.J. P.
Personally I think the chatter should begin about that and probably will.
I would like to see Kizer get some more balls deep down field. No I'm not talking about the bombs but deep in routes or tight end seam passes.
I would also like to see him hurry up a little bit when he wanders out of the pocket. They are coming, let's hurry up and find the receiver.

Our kicking game.....did BK practice on side receive more than ten minutes this fall practice? Seriously they looked lost on seeing it and the personnel to be out there.

Overall we had a good game.

UMASS Is next and here we go, at 3-0

BK blamed the false starts on cadence issues with Kizer. BK said that our FG / Extra Point unit works very hard and pays close attention to details, but, I would not trust Justin Yoon just yet to make a game winning FG. Amir has to go as a returner. He actually came to a complete stop yesterday on a KO return which drew criticism almost immediately from radio analysts Allen Pinkett. The coverage unit has improved from previous years. As far as the final two minutes, BK kind of down played it in public. It was frustrating as hell to watch the defense check out early. That is all on them. A win is a win but style points count, especially when it comes to ND. I wonder if Navy was paying close attention to the FB swing route and might our "D" see it against the Middies? Crowd was loud. Day was gorgeous. If BK is not going to ban these chest bumping celebrations, the captains should. Almost immediately Jaylon was upset and knew that something was terribly wrong. In the end, when the team gathered in front of the Sophomore section to sing, Drew was in a full leg brace, on crutches with his helmet still on.

That's two players lost for the season based on non contact, stupid choices. Jones (no fault of his own, McGlinchy stupidly shoved Schmidt who rolled under Jones, ending his season) and Tranquil.
