Mich & Stanford were fake "quality" wins.

Michigan & Stanford came to ND Stadium Top 10 teams and those programs are a couple of flat out overrated jokes.

Both of those teams would be lucky to get out of the SEC 6-6.

Schedule Clemson, FSU every year. Replace Michigan with OSU. Get some home and homes going with Georgia, Alabama and Oklahoma.

Hopefully USC becomes USC again. Get an accurate inventory of who you are and how you really stack up. And then if you go 12-0, it actually means something,

This Pixie Dust 12-0 stuff is for Boise State & UCF. not ND.

If you play the cream of the crop and go 7-5 & 8-4 at least its an honest assessment.

You play who's on your schedule. No one knew ten years ago that Clemson and Bama would be Clemson and Bama. Ten years ago USC was the team to beat. Stanford was bad, then good, then mediocre. The schedule looked daunting in August. I'll repeat what I said before, it's not going 12-0 anymore, it's how you go 12-0. Shouldn't Ball State, Vandy, Pitt, USC all have been a red flag of what might be just as much as the FSU, Michigan, Cuse games on the flipside?

I think you might find that not only Michigan and Stanford fans, but the majority of college football fans might find ND to be a "flat overrated joke".
Today is not the day for you to throw stones

Interesting. Playing the schedule you suggest would make us a 6-6 team on a good year. Fear not USC will be back - with their talent on offense and Kingsbury as the OC they will be just fine. Getting your heat caved in by top programs does not make you a great team.

We played a home and home with OU in 12/13. The 12 team went into Norman and dominated them. We're finishing a home and home with Georgia next year, and have OSU, Bama, A&M, and Wisconsin in coming seasons. You really have no way of knowing who's going to be good and bad as far in advance as these schedules are created.

And you really don't want to be the only team in the country to fully load your schedule. Bama and Clemson didn't exactly play a murderer's row.

So we should play nothing but cream of the crop teams? This year Georgia played Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee and UMass. Next season Bama plays the worst non-con schedule in history. So we’re supposed to play 12 tough games? Duly noted.

Irish Florida,

If I asked you if you’ve lost your mind, it implies that you had one to start with !

Would you name one team in all of college football that loads their schedule with “the cream of the crop” ?

This isn’t the NFL where 8-8 can make the playoffs.

As an independent, ND has to go undefeated or maybe in an unusual year have 1 loss.

Evidently you never bothered to look at ND’s schedule through 2037.

In some years That scheduling almost guarantees that ND won’t make the playoff, or maybe even a winning record.

No one can predict how good or bad a team will be in 5, 10, 15 or 20 years.

Most can’t predict how good or bad a team will be next year or the years after.

Schedules need to be balanced and that’s no easy task.
