Sorry to my Cubs brothers, if it was any other team I'd be rooting the Cubs in, but I love me my Mets. I was there in '69 and '86 -- and I'm hopeful this young team will do it again (finally) do you believe in miracles?! Yes.

LETS GO METS!!!

I'm a big St. Louis Cardinals fan, so I used to loathe the Pond Scum Mets back in the '80s when they had HoJo, Dykstra, Strawberry, & Carter.

This Mets team is pretty fun however. They have some fun characters, plus 50-year-old, 280-lb. Bartolo Colon coming out of the bullpen to eat up innings along with anything else he can get his hands on.

Lol!

The question is who will the Cub fans blame this year because Steve Bartman wasn't anywhere near Wrigley Field during the NLCS. I also didn't see a goat or a black cat.

Cubs fans need to realize they just saw their own mortality the last four games. How you gonna beat those guys in the coming years?

It was actually the players and the media who had to bring Cub fans down from the ledge after the Bartman game. Those who actually realized what happened jumped on the guy immediately. Those who later watched it on replay or heard about it joined in the fun. Those who called in to Chicago talk shows just reinforced the previous night's behavior. Maybe Cub fans who didn't blame Bartman should have been more vocal. Maybe many Cub fans who jumped on the guy at the time are now denying any such behavior. That idiot governor at the time was on Chicago TV saying that if he could, he would throw the book at Steve Bartman. How ironic that an irresponsible comment like that from a public "servant" would serve notice to his future in the big house. Maybe you should not rewrite that particular dark side of Cubs history and it was most certainly a dark side.

Not re-writing it at all. Of course a lot of Cubs fans were idiots. A lot of fans are idiots period. A lot of Michigan fans are sending death threats to their punter. It doesn't mean the entire fanbase should be blamed.

The players and the media didn't bring Cubs fans down from the ledge. Dusty Baker mentioned him after the game. Moises Alou threw a hissy fit when he didn't catch the foul ball. The media STILL bring up Steve Bartman, though I find that few Cubs fans I talk to actually still blame him for the game.

In the past, you've been vocal about not wanting to paint generalizations about an entire group of people. At the same time, you seem to enjoy doing that when it's convenient to you.

It's baseball. The postseason generally consists of randomness. The Mets have a young staff that should be good for years to come. But so did the Braves of the 90s, and they only won one World Series.

It's clear that the Cubs pitching staff is simply not good enough. Lester is way overpaid and underachieved. Arrieta is amazing, just had a semi-ok start by his amazing standards. Their 3 and 4 are a joke.

Just look at the Dodgers. Back to back years they can't make it with Greinke and Kershaw. You can't automatically count wins at the top of the rotation and ignore the 3/4.

Cubs need more pitching.

I agree, but people need to realize that the end goal for the Cubs organization was not this 2015 team. Frankly, they're ahead of schedule. I would expect that the Cubs would address pitching in the off-season.

Essentially, I don't think they are ignoring the 3/4 in the rotation. They also weren't going to trade a top prospect for a No. 3 starter during the season.

I thought it was funny that the Dodgers payroll was 315Million and the total payroll of BOTH the Mets and Cubs was in the Mid 200s... (Of course, that's gonna change now! Just hope the mets ownership is out from under Bernie Madoff!)

I understand the 5 year plan, and it does look bright for the Cubs. That being said, when things materialize for a run, I think you have to make moves to win now. Who cares about a prospect that (probably) may pan out or not, when you can get a solid #3? Think the Nationals are kicking themselves for sitting Strasburg few years back? They had the same idea in mind. Baseball season is too long, too many unknowns to assume you will be back.

A solid #3 would not have won them the Mets series. I understand making moves to win now, but not at the risk of mortgaging what is likely a solid future. Trading Schwarber, Soler or Russell (or two out of the three) wasn't going to be a good idea.

I like this Mets team, which is strange because I usually still don't like them because of '86. But I guess I'm over that one by now.

If KC wins, it'll be a team that last won the WS in 1985 vs a team that last won it in 1986, for the title.

18: Dusty didn't even see the play. He was confused about what happened and never blamed Bartman for anything directly. The Cub players were the first ones to say that it was their fault the Cubs lost. I listened to as many Chicago talk shows as possible immediately after and I never heard or read one single media type blaming Bartman. In fact, they had to tell enraged callers to pipe down and get a grip. As far as Alou. His anger was in the moment and to this day he felt he could have made the catch. No problem with that. It was a foul ball. Why did he get so riled about a foul ball? I never said one single thing about ALL Cub fans. Those were your words not mine. But, I will say that it was many many Cub fans. Were you one of them because you sure are protesting the topic more than necessary. I bet you were. That is too funny. You learn something new everyday.

Alou's anger was in the moment? So eight years later, when he said he could have caught the ball - thus blaming Bartman - he was still in the moment? The media - more than Cub fans - continue to bring up Steve Bartman's name. I wish they'd stop.

You've stated that Cubs fans don't deserve a World Series. You didn't say "many many Cubs fans" don't deserve a World Series. It's clear that you're talking about all fans.

To the extent I'm debating this with you, it's not because I blame Steve Bartman (in fact, I feel bad for him, not just because he is a fellow ND guy but because his life is forever tainted for something that I probably would have done myself). Rather, I'm doing so, because you, as usual, have no idea what you are talking about.

The usual way - picking up the Cubs' most talented players when the Cubs trade them for some past his prime former star and two farm prospects to be named later.

You know exactly what I'm talking about but because of previous political disagreements, you will take the counter point on anything I say. It bothers you that much. You think parsing words will drive home your point? Nitpick away. My comments are clear and concise and I stand by them. It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree. If you intentionally paint a confused picture or not. If you are one of the Bartman mob or not. Oh, just to clear up your confusion, Alou blames Bartman for interfering with a foul ball catch, not for losing the game or the series. Of course Cub fans will deny any ill will towards Steve Bartman at the time. Only now do they realize it was the goat who is the real culprit.
