Lights out basketball? Ya, turn the lights out. This year is already in the dumpster. *

I'm still here and my expectations for the past four games were summed up by Brey in his presser today when he was asked how he felt about going 3-1 in that stretch. "I would have been happy with 2 and 2." We're definitely on the same page.

Wrong again.

Mike Brey isn't on the same page with you. I think your "page" is unique. You are a dumb***.

can't be. your page is blank.

In this week's polls, ND is # 18 in the coaches poll and # 19 in the AP. But the season is in the dumper, per the OP.

Two days after my post Lunardi had ND as a play-in team. My assessment was spot on given the team's performance at the time...unless you're a Brey shill.

You fail from the beginning of your thread to acknowledge the fact that ND lost a few of their best players from last year. It takes awhile to get the new ones to gel and find their rythym and Brey has got them to do that.

If being a "shill" means believing that Brey could right the ship (based upon previous years) and that the players would step up and change the course of the season, then mark me down. If being a "shill" means wanting the team to win, then mark me down.

I guess since you're not a Brey "shill", then you have been hoping for him to fail and the team to lose, thereby making your prediction right. You just can't stand the fact that you've been proven wrong. Your focus is strictly on Brey and not the team.

You do realize that the season is just slightly longer than a few weeks, right?

if being a "shill" is pointing out that ND has beaten UNC, Duke and Louisville who are coached by 3 of the best in the game 9 times in the past 2 years than consider me a shill.

now, now. no fair bringing logic to the discussion.

Have always thought Brey was a lousy recruiter my opinion and I am entitled to it. I don't have any insides sources but like I said mo.. A school like ND should be able to find 7 or 8 smart 4* players and the rare 5* kid who wants a great degree and you can win games that way. I applaud Breys older players can beat talent approach. But, again ND should be getting better talent. BTW calling someone's view pont stupid won't win you any friends assuming you want any. On, and if Butler can get to the final four well enough said
The only way ND is going to get that better talent is by lowering their standards. How about offering prostitutes in their dorm rooms s well? How's that working for Ricky right now? Yes they got a NC, but sold their souls to get it and now it's coming back to haunt them.

You mean, you're analysis was spot on, unless someone was capable of projecting a team to improve and play up to the inconsistent potential they had shown

And yes, some people are able to look past the present moment and put together an actually intelligent opinion and project of the future

Unfortunately, you're not one of those people

I'm guessing you projected a choke vs 4-9 GT?

Holtz-speak, always keep a low profile. Brey has done an amazing job after losing his top two starters! Once again we're going to the dance and you never know!

Similar to the victories over Duke, North Carolina, Louisiville, etc......of course I did!!!

Im guessing you must conisder Gokden State to suck as well, since they also lost to such bad teams at times during this year

It's tough winning on the road in any league! Demetrius clearly called timeout when he had clear possession with 17 seconds left. No whistle until he was tied up. That's life on the road.

I'm not sure if he called a time out or not, but it was clear he was fouled by the guy who jumped over him to grab the ball. That said, officials didn't cost us the game, we just didn't get it done in the end. We went scoreless in our last 4 possessions .... Can't do that. .. But give GT some credit here, their defense held us in the low 60's. Just a tough tough game and loss

We are one week from March and the team just took its worst RPI loss of the year and "that's life"? You said it, not me.

they had no timeouts left . Brey used them 3 possessions in a row .

It is irrelevant.....you said the season was in the dumper a month ago. Nitwit.

The officiating at the end of the game was very bad. ND was up 62-58 and the GT guy( Mitchell ?) set a moving screen on Rex that should have been called . As a 3-point shot was going up this same guy literally pushed an ND player trying to box out .A blatant foul. There should have a moving pick negating the 3-pt shot that made it 62-61. At the very least that player should have been called for a dead ball foul and ND would have been at the line in a one-and -one situation. If anyone has an opportunity to see the highlights take a look. That caused ND the game IMo. Brey wasting timeouts also hurt. He does that a lot and with the game 60-54 why take the foot off the gas? It's tough to run an Offense with only 10 seconds on a shot clock . It's like playing to lose by trying to kill clock . I don't like that mentality / philosophy with 4 minutes left and a 6 point lead. 2 minutes yes.
Not 4 .

Yes, that's life

An individual road loss during the regular season in basketball just simply isn't that big of a deal

Especially for a team that's apparently already done for the season, per the OP

I have the same opinion about the officiating at the end. Other things may have "cost" the Irish the win but the lack of whistles at the end also contributed a lot.

PHJ, well I do agree the officiating was less than stellar at the end of the game, I just don't think that cost us the game. We had many good looks in our last 4 possessions, just didn't get it done. It happens. Team is gritty and doesn't quit. Proud of our guys this season. Get back on track against Wake, and do well in the ACC tourney.

As I stated the officials didn't cost the Irish the game but they didn't do their job well at the end either.
The Irish will be OK!

Damn. It our season weren't already in the dumper, I would have loved to celebrate this second win over Duke this year.

You kidding? Where are your standards? If we don't make it to the Elite Eight, the season is a complete disaster.

ND gets a # 6 seed in the tournament. Not bad for a team with its season in the dumper.

Can't complain about a #6 seed ... but how did Duke, a team we were 2-0 against this year, get a #4 seed? Beat them at Cameron, were higher ranked in the ACC, and beat them in the ACC tournament.

Makes me wonder about the selection committee.

It looks like Duke gets some kind of automatic respect just for being Duke. The conference tourneys just don't mean much anymore. I guess this committee justdidn't take any tourney results seriously this season. Just ask Kentucky and Michigan State.

Duke brings in more money by ticket sales and eyeballs on the TV. Duke gets a higher seed so that they hopefully stay in the tournament longing bringing in more money. Just like unc has not been punished for the fake classes they were running for their student athletes. Just follow the money.....

Word is that to honor the UNC men's basketball team for winning the ACC tournament all fake classes are cancelled for Monday!

I know the NCAA moves at a glacial pace, but when are they finally going to nail North Carolina for that?
