If you think winning exactly one sweet sixteen game in 20 years makes him one of the better coaches, fine. If you think having a losing season two years ago is indicative of the performance of a better coach, fine. If you think two good seasons out of 20 is worthy of declaring a coach better, fine. Peace.
So you're focusing on 1 stat (number of 'Sweet 16 Games Won') and 1 Year......and you think you have an even-semi reasonable opinion??
You realize how unbelievably stupid that is, right?
I'm talking "invading Russia in the winter" levels of dumb
Brey building up a quality CBB program at a "Football First" school makes him a good coach
Brey building up a program that consistently wins a high % of games CBB at a "Football First" school makes him a good coach
Brey building a program that consistently qualifies for the NCAA Tourny makes him a good coach
Brey beating a multitude of CBB Elites (such as Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Louisville, etc.) make him a very good coach
Brey taking that team to the Elite 8 makes him a very good coach
Brey winning the ACC (in only his 2nd year) makes him one of the better coaches in CBB
Really no one with a functioning brain would try to argue that what Brey has done at ND doesn't put him among the better coaches in CBB
Sorry to have to break that to you
Peace!
(lol)
