USC, Michigan, Stanford, Miami, Michigan State, Purdue, FSU, and a few others, are big games. We have beaten all of them in this stadium. Georgia?? It's a cute and interesting game and we'll give them a return, but It's not a biggie. We'll forget about them in short time. I don't understand all the anxiety. We're better and will win. I will be there but I'm very low keeled about it.
Run some packages with three TE sets, put Wimbush under center, put St. Brown or Smith out wide where there will be single coverage (a safety will need to cover the TE in the flat) and the other will need to run support, Let the OL work, and we should win easily. It's an easy game. Put everyone to sleep and just win. On Sunday we will wonder why all the hype. Start flinging it all over the field and it will be much more difficult.

LOL./ UGA has never seen that before. You do realize that UGA could say the same thing. Just look where Auburn, UTenn and UF are ranked in recruiting. We play them every year. Notre Dame is a great team, but we do play some pretty good teams loaded with talent.

Honestly, his post didn't deserve a response. UGA's history speaks for itself and they are the richest team in tradition in all of the SEC. GaTech also has a rich history in the SEC but you have to go back many years.

Then, why did you reply?
"How 'bout them Dawgs" My post has nothing to do with talent or with the SEC or your tradition, i am just curious as to why all the fuss? Whether ND wins or loses, we have USC in a few weeks, Michigan next year. You have AL and UF. Those games are meaningful, UGA-ND isn't, except for Saturday. We'll forget about each other in a few weeks.

I posted because you are an ill-informed fan. These UGA fans deserve respect as does their program. If you cannot honor their program then how can you honor ND's program?

No problem. Just the implication that this will be an easy win because you play bigger games. Its okay. No biggie. I love Notre Dame, because I love College football. The role Notre Dame played in making college football what it is can't be over stated. Notre Dame has a great team and possibly the greatest tradition in all of college football. They deserve respect in spite of last year. UGA has not developed an offensive identity under Kirby Smart yet. Notre Dame may very well win this game, but it will not be due to more overall talent or better competition.

And you know this. Not too bright, are you? Besides, i can do what you suggest quite easily.

No!!! You musunderstand. No disrespect intended. We play bigger games for us and you play bigger games for you. I was simply curious about all the fuss. One of our teams will click the left column and move on.

Stanford has to be added to our "premier" games imo. They have become an annual top 10-15 contender and we usually compete for a number of recruits. And I think the game vs UGA is really important to us this year as a measuring stick for our team.

Purdue? Really?

All the fuss is because a historically strong SEC team is making its first ever trip to ND. The college football world thinks that's pretty cool and interesting. Maybe you don't, but you are clearly in the minority.

I would love to see ND schedule up traditional foes of the past. We used to play Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, Wisconsin regularly.

I've always wondered if Indiana was viewed as a rival to y'all being in the same state.
Just as nearly every Georgia poster here disowned the post by a Georgia fan on another site that I re-posted here, that was dismissive of ND and our chances, etc... nearly all ND fans here will disown this OP. Can't recall a game where we were playing a 15th ranked team that generated as much interest and excitement as this game. Georgia has a great football tradition, and I thought the two game series was great for ND and college football. This game is huge for ND given last year's record, the question marks surrounding our defense, the wholesale changes in coaches, the fact Georgia is part of the SEC, and the upward trajectory of your program. I hope you all win the SEC Conference with a one game blemish at the hands of the Irish. Two days and counting.

It isn't. Until recently, Purdue (the other Indiana school) was one of our longer running series - played about 90 times. We stopped that series and some others with the Big 10 when we entered the scheduling agreement with the ACC.

USC is our main rival. Our fan bases can tolerate each other.

Michigan would be our regional rival. The Michigan series is on a break, but that's been the history ever since they blackballed us from joining the (then) Big 9 after we kicked their ass for the first time in 1909. They have a history of hiding from us. Everything about Michigan sucks. I'm still mad Florida let them win last week.

It is big for Notre Dame if for no other reason than it helps stamp their recruiting footprint in SEC country. Kids today are probably only slightly aware of Notre Dames great history and tradition. However, playing teams from their area of the country opens their eyes. That's why Harbaugh is trying to do his satellite camps down here. The state of Georgia sent more players to the NFL this year than any other state, more than California, more than Florida, more that Texas. No doubt it is a bigger game for UGA from an excitement standpoint. It doesn't effect our SEC race, but we rarely play a team of this caliber out of conference outside of a bowl game. Notre Dame does play USC, some teams from the BIG TEN and few other big names from around the country every year. UGA is just another brand name visitor. I am not saying our schedule is weak, I am just saying that it is fun to play other power teams outside of conference and experience something new.

Really glad this tread was started. The real ND fan base is highly intelligent. Some of these characters, not so much! I simply asked the long form of the question as to why this game was considered big. I didn't (and still don't) think that it was big compared to others on our schedule and on theirs. However, It is an interesting game and does help our recruiting exposure (and theirs!). I didn't diss UGA or its tradition or the SEC or anything else. I want to win badly, but it's not a big game IMO on the micro-scale. It is for the PO picture as any game would be. USC is! Miami is! UF, UA for them is! Big under any circumstances. This is a two and out series. They are probably a 4-5 loss team, so at the end a win is not that big. I have seen Alabama, LSU, and Mississippi (I think) play here in the past. I, for one, am not "honored" that UGA took the money and national exposure and showed up here. Big whoop. I would have preferred that Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State came in. They would be big.
I think that we are the better team and will win the game. 31-17 ND.
I hope that all Georgians are safe from Irma.

You just can't say we're going to easily beat the #15 team in the country and then say you didn't disrespect anyone.

FYI, we're not going to easily beat Georgia. Just not gonna happen.
