Clemson, etc. have ever lost at home to a MAC, WAC level team.

Freeman has overseen losses to Marshall and now NIU at home, inexcusable.

This program will NEVER be elite again. I had held out some hope but this just cemented it for me.

I am with you. ND will never win a NC in football ever again. Like the academies and the Ivy league, ND's glories are all in the past. No hope for the future.

As a Giants fan I can tell you that you don’t want a QB from Duke
What is it with getting these ACC guys? Frankly, the ACC is weak football conference and you’re unlikely to find a good transfer, unless it’s from Clemson or Miami, perhaps.

Because there's no bidding war for those guys...they are cheap.

Why does it feel like ND is operating with a football budget of some mediocre ACC football program?

With the resources ND has at their disposal it’s shocking that they can’t recruit, develop or lure an elite QB into the program.

To be fair, RL looked way better than this when he was at Duke. Now he’s not sure of what he wants to do – he has opportunities to run, but he doesn’t run and he slow with his decision-making and somehow his arm strength seems to have gone away, which is really weird.

All I ever heard was Brian Kelly made quarterbacks, but now we have an experience quarterback to look much better and on top of all that we hired an offensive coordinator who orchestrated a historic offense last year.

I was at the ND/Duke game last year. Leonard was the leading rusher in the game for Duke (18 att-88 yds), but he did not stretch the field throwing the ball.

Here was his passing stat line:
12-27
134 yards (67 of those yards were to one receiver)
1 TD
1 INT

He never had a great arm to begin with. If ND wanted a portal QB, should have heavily pursued Kyle McCord or Cam Ward.

Let’s see, App State beat top 5 Mich at home like 15 years ago. I also recall JMU beating Va Tech when they were top 10. Many moons ago, like the 80’s, Cincy beat PSU …

Sure you can find more, Google is your friend

Someone doesn't understand NIL....AT ALL
I think the point I'm making is still valid though regardless of the particulars of how an institution facilitates/entices with NIL

If a prospect has a lot of suitors and a lot of demand for his services ND will just go with another option that's cheaper/lower effort/lower on their board/etc. in recruiting, in transfer portal, in their coaching hires, etc. and it ultimately reflects in the subpar product on Saturdays

None of that is true. You don't have the first clue of what you're posting.

Many moons ago 0-1 #20 PSU lost to Cincy after NU had already whacked them in the initial Kickoff Classic.

The “top 10” VT team had also already been beaten.

It happens, as shown with the UM example, and google is probably a better option than one’s memories.

Ahh, they still lost. Ranked team, top 10 program….at home…with the L

Tyx for verifying. Take a lap

ND doesn't pay players, the NIL collectives do. Why don't you email Brady Quinn who I believe setup one of the bigger collectives.

I said I wonder if a top 5 Bama, UGA, Clemson, OSU, had ever lost to a MAC/WAC school at home.

You searched and found VaTech and 1980 PSU…😂

The UM loss is still talked about to this day because it still blows minds, they lost to an FCS team. That’s really the only proper comparison.

Kyle Mccord.....

🤣🤣

I guess Notre Dame should just close up shop and quit playing football. I mean, if you can’t compete for national championships, why bother filling a program?
