I have to ask...WTH is going on here with the QB transfer portal and ND...Eli Holstein

Y'all know how I feel about the NIL, star trek portal, etc...

How is it we get these other team's table scraps and a team like Pitt, which I have no ill feelings toward, can pick up a player like Eli Holstein.

Three games in, three 300 yard passing games.
I recorded that game and was amazingly surprised at this Eli cat. He can sling it. He looks eerily similar to Bo Nix.

I can't go back and keep track of all the start trek portal QB's over the last few years but how is it we....at the almighty DOME, can only muster...
Coan, Hartman, Riley Leonard.

Something is just wrong here. Way wrong. We shouldn't get a player because we are entitled which means we have to earn it. We have to recognize and go get them. Moreover and for god sakes, if we are paying Riley a million dollars then how in the hell can't we afford a Holstein type of QB.

To the Riley apologists and the previous two table scraps,...
You do know we can run the ball..correct? We had a QB last year that was as mobile as a traffic cone and Estime had a pretty good year. Other players had some decent games as well. In other words we can run the ball. WE are in a spot right now the line is recruiting itself. That is great. Running backs are taking a hard look at our team. That's great too.

Yet the same old, same old continues. QB problems to the highest of levels. As in we can't throw the ball down the field.
Michigan winning last year was the worst thing to happen as that planted some superficial pipe dream seed in the coaches brain.
They ran the ball first alright but McCarthy could throw the ball down the field if needed. He could get a chunk play if required with his arm.
We have nothing like that from Riley. Nothing. Angeli can do that but the NIL won't let him play.
Holstein can do that. He can REALLY do that but somehow we get skipped over by him and how many others that have a decent arm and can move the ball with chunk plays passing. If we are paying Riley a cool million and he can't throw ....how are we missing on so many decent transfers that could make even more.

Are you honestly comparing last years O Line to this year's? Hindsighting is lazy. You really think a young man like Holstein would go to a place where the path to actual playing time had way more obstacles ? Compare the rooms.

I’m under the impression nil is a guaranteed amount of $$. Not playing time.

That's the easy excuse and used by some to support their opinion. Just not true.

Are you honestly comparing last years O Line to this year's? Hindsighting is lazy. You really think a young man like Holstein would go to a place where the path to actual playing time had way more obstacles ? Compare the rooms.

Considering we've automatically anointed starter status to our transfer QB's. 21, 23 and now 24 we've sought a QB in the portal and rolled out the red carpet.

No matter the mumble jumble political speak garble of open competitions you know damn well these transfers have been automatic starters.

If you're also implying Holstein makes the QB room a bigger mess...
That ship has sailed.

The ultimate point is if we're going the portal route and getting these one year stop gap players...you know the endless gap that doesn't seem to stop....then why aren't we going after a player that actually has a real arm...is effectively mobile...and throws the ball where we need it. Down the damn field.
Oh and that pesky little thing called accuracy. He's accurate as well. God forbid.
Oh and has multiple years remaining.
Instead we go after table scraps because "wait until next year"
