Probably the least of your worries!Just a hypothetical. …… let’s say he comes to ND or a big time program. He lights it up and either wins or is runner up in the heisman trophy race. I would think he would be at least a second round pic. Thoughts ?
Agree. I am getting very winded with of rumors these days.Sounds good. I just hope that the original rumor was that he was a done deal to ND, no ifs ands or buts. Not that he was strongly considering ND, and we would be the heavy favorite, in which case we could easily end up with nothing.
So I will assume he's coming to ND unless we hear anything different, like for instance him taking visits to other schools......
No, he won’t be more than a 5th—6th round pick at best because he doesn’t possess any of the tools today’s elite, difference making QBs possess, i.e., arm strength, quick release, and/or upper end athleticism/physical attributes. if a team is going to draft a QB in the first or second round, he hast to have at least a few of these things . Obviously somebody who can read defenses and make pre-snap decisions goes way up in everybody’s estimation, but Hartman has never ran that type of offense at Wake. Hartman can’t really control most of these things, so it doesn’t matter what he does. As it is, he produced amazing numbers at Wake Forest given the type of talent he had around him.Just a hypothetical. …… let’s say he comes to ND or a big time program. TB will use the spring practices and B&G game to audition for the portal.Chances of beating Ohio State go up considerably. Having Hartman to mentor Minchey is invaluable. Buchner likely gone though.
Buchner leaving is not a big deal.Chances of beating Ohio State go up considerably. Having Hartman to mentor Minchey is invaluable. Buchner likely gone though.
Agree. If the staff thought he was it they’d have let him battle PyneBuchner leaving is not a big deal.
AgreedIf it happens that's fine. The move just doesn't move the needle for me. I just hope he doesn't get handed the job. Buchner was the starter before the injury. Let them compete.
When we beat Ohio State please admit you were wrong! Rivals has DJ U as the #4 transfer player. Who did you want? Card is not as good as Hartman.Agreed
I said it's fine. But it doesn't move the needle like some here are thinking. When we beat Ohio State please admit you were wrong! Rivals has DJ U as the #4 transfer player. Who did you want? Card is not as good as Hartman.
If we go 12-0 it does. We can go 12-0 with him. We need receivers. Hartman needs to distribute.I said it's fine. But it doesn't move the needle like some here are thinking
Hopefully we do go 12 and 0If we go 12-0 it does. We can go 12-0 with him. We need receivers. Hartman needs to distribute.
He's a late round prospectSo after 5 years of college ball he is still not good enough to enter the NFL draft, WOW! He will be 24 yrs. old in July of 2023. Surprised, he must not be that good of a pro prospect.
He’s short. NFL draft has a bias towards shorter guys. I think he’s a 4th or 5th round talent. He likely believes so too amd that’s why he’s coming to ND to be in the spotlight. He has Books talent and could be even better. Who knows. There are players like him that have succeeded in the NFL. He will beat out Buchner and it won’t even be a contest. My sense is the staff has already alluded to the fact that he’s playing all season. They know.So after 5 years of college ball he is still not good enough to enter the NFL draft, WOW! AlwaysAny reason for concern we may get bid out of contention here?
No. Buchner has three years of eligibility left. He can sit next year and since ND took a one year guy vs card he can compete the following spring. Him vs minchey after next year....that's what you want and best guy plays. If he loses then he likely might start looking but if not, he likely starts for two more years before giving way to minchey then Carr ..Chances of beating Ohio State go up considerably. Having Hartman to mentor Minchey is invaluable. Buchner likely gone though.
It’s rare to have 4 capable 4 star QB’s on a roster. If not Buchner then it’s Angeli. Angeli has more to lose by leaving.No. Buchner has three years of eligibility left. Not disagreeing but I watched one of the old NFL deep pass competitions the other day. Had a lot of the old school elite names competing. Average deep ball was like low 50’s. Not that distance is necessarily arm strength but it was eye opening. I’ll take accuracy all day at the college level. There’s a very, very high likelihood that he makes more in an NIL deal than in the NFL.
That being said, if he starts here, he’s going to do really well. He’s an experienced QB running mesh RPO type of offenses and he is going to have a much better office of line, better receivers, and better running backs to work with here.
12-0 ? C'mon thats highly unlikely. After the entire season and conference championship games this year only two teams have gone unscathed out of 130 I believe. It's rare.If we go 12-0 it does. We can go 12-0 with him. We need receivers. Hartman needs to distribute.
If we land Sam Hartman we will have a great chance at making the playoffs next year. With our great Oline and running backs and a much deeper Receiver room Sam should put up HUGE numbers. If Hartman comes on board, I think our QB floor just got a whole lot higher, and hope the same for our QB ceiling. Too early to declare our receivers positions of strength, but both Colzie and Thomas were vastly improved by season’s end, and Merriweather showed flashes of a huge upside. Add the talent of the incoming class, and we might actually have an explosive passing game next season to compliment a very good running game. We’ll miss Mayer for sure, in both the running and passing game. Assuming he stays, Rees will Have enough weapons and OL to showcase a balanced explosive mega point producing offense. Hopefully no more stacked defenses in the box, and No more excuses.
Doesn’t Alabama have three 5-star QB’s. Not saying your point is false, but it’s more of a sign that Alabama has resources ($) that the others don’t.It’s rare to have 4 capable 4 star QB’s on a roster. If not Buchner then it’s Angeli. Angeli has more to lose by leaving.
There she is….^The ACC has been really bad for the last decade or so .. like way below the rest of the P5. I hope this guy has more going for him than putting up big numbers against shitty competition in the ACC.
ACC really has only been a 1 trick pony (Clemson) with the exception of FSU earlier in the decade. But when FSU was winning a national title, Clemson was not competing on an elite level. There she is….^
Yet SEC is 0-2 and ACC is 2-0 in bowl games. UF smoked by Oregon State and WF beats Mizzou.
Last decade? Let’s take a look at the final rankings, and just the top 10.
2012 - Clemson and FSU (and ND) in top ten. Big10 has 2, Pac10 has one in top ten; Big12 has zero
2013 - FSU wins NC; Clemson top ten. Big10, Pac12, Big12 all with one team in top 10
2014 - FSU and GT in top 10; SEC, Big10, PAC12, Big12 also with 2 teams on top 10
2015 - Clemson finishes 2nd; SEC with 2, Big10 with 3, Big12 with 2; PAC12 with one team in final top ten. ND at #11
2016 - Clemson wins NC, FSU finishes #8. SEC with only one team in final top ten as well as Big12. Pac12 with 2, Big10 with 4
2017 - bama wins and SEC with 3 in top 10. Big10 with 3. Clemson 4th (with ND and Miami at 11,12). 2 big12, no Pac12.
2018 - Clemson wins again. ND undefeated regular season; one BiG10 and one Pac12 team in top ten. 4 SEC teams
2019 - Clemson finishes 2nd, ND 12th. One big12 and one Pac12 team as big10 and SEC have several teams each
2020 - Clemson and ND top 5. Two each from SEC, Big10, Big12…..no Pac12
2021 - ND 8th. 2 SEC, 3 Big10, 3 big12, no PAC 12
So how do you make the statement that the ACC has been the worst of P5? You really believe the crap you spew?
Your misunderstanding is that Angeli is very aware of the talent at ND. He was aware when he signed on, and has known he is likely a long-term backup. He values the ND degree and can graduate having never played meaningful football and transfer and start for two years somewhere else. That has always been angelis projection. Sure he will compete and if he surges then great for all parties but he is not on the level of Buchner, minchey, Carr etc. And has known since he committed. It’s rare to have 4 capable 4 star QB’s on a roster. If not Buchner then it’s Angeli. Angeli has more to lose by leaving.
