Yeah, no way he's transferring to Notre Dame to back up Tyler Buchner.
Maybe I’m a little partial to the university, but if Buchner transferred, I would love to see him end up at Stanford! However, with that said, I think he looks a lot better in blue and gold! Frankly, I think he could be a huge impact moving forward for the Irish. If Rees doesn’t have a package for TB to compliment Hartman, I think he may be doing it wrong. Time will tell, I suppose.
He ia better than Pyne or Book. Huge get for the irish. Box checked on a QB. I imagine TB will get a couple of series a game and we do not have to worry about what happens if TB gets hurt again. ND needs a DL and sone safety help. Several studs are coming in at wide out, absolutely stocked at LB, OL the best in the country, CB is loaded. NO EXCUSES FOR NEXT YEAR
Why would he transfer? Three starts in the last 4 years and he needs a ton of work on him mechanics and footwork in throwing the ball. Worst case is he needs to wait a year and then has two more years of eligibility. One injury away from being the starter. With Hartman we finally have a normal QB room and good spacing with Buchner, Angelli, Minchey and then Carr, with all having a couple of years to advance and no need for future portal QB;s unless someone doesn't work out. Of course, patience is not in today's players DNA.
We will see if better than Book. That’s a big statement. Book was far better than people give him credit for. better than Pyne is a no brainer.
People mad that he is 6’0 tall bc they think that means arm strength are plain stupid. You can say he doesn’t have a strong NFL arm but that has 0 to do with height. For reference, Everett Golson has a way stronger arm than anyone on our roster. Mike Vick has the strongest arm I’ve ever seen. Hartman makes up for the strong arm bs with every other imaginable trait. Many NFL hall of famers did not have the strongest arm. If Rees calls a good season and Hartman starts getting chummy with his lineman and receivers we have a real shot at the playoffs so long as Al Washington gets better or canned.
Dude completed 64 percent of his passes and threw for over 3700 yards. He was also top 5 in the country in passing touchdowns.

Prediction: with this news, Bodi predicts ND 12-0 in 2023 and sweeps the playoffs for a ND NC!
If we beat Ohio State I don't see why 12-0 can't happen. I worry more about the defense in 2023. No way we sweep the playoffs even if we get Mahomes.
He has three years of eligibility left. He will stay and start after Hartman leaves. Minchey isn't starting as a freshmen, unless Buchner falters badly as a junior. The path is set... Hartman this year, Buchner for 2, minchey for 2, then car for 2.
That's the way the room is now set up. Will they all stay? Will they move up, down, or out...who knows. But that is the way the room is set, and its a strong room

Nice! Well, if you're gonna do it, might as well go big, and get the most, at least proven and polished transfer QB out there. So our coaches definitely receive an 'A' for getting their man. Whether or not it was the best choice of action to take a transfer QB I guess we'll never truly know. But we did get SH so.... Hell yeah!!
Buchner needs to worry about minchey starting as a soph not frosh. I don’t think Buchner starts for 2 or carr sits for 4 ….
I think 3 person race in 24 and Buchner needs to drastically improve throwing to win it

Buchner is inaccurate.
You don't make someone inaccurate and get them threading the needle.
You CAN polish someone who's accurate to make them even more precise...yes...
But you can't make someone accurate who is not.
Remove Buchner and that's a good room.

TB has great quickness. Extremely quick feet but his arm is lacking. Not strong. Not accurate

He was widely considered the best QB in the portal. Hard to disagree. If taking a one year wonder I want the highest floor 1 year wonder. That’s Hartman.
The minions do not get it. Hartman is a major upgrade for ND compared to the last four starting QB’s, absolutely, nothing against them personally and the jury is still out on TB who could turn out to be the best that ND every had with a little experience and proper coaching leading to my next point on hiring the best QB coach in the country with ND’s deep pockets it could afford it.

If TB does not throw two pic 6’s one was a tipped pass and the other one was poor play calling evident by anybody who has a brain most posters would have a different opinion of TB just look at TCU in a similar position with a runner up at the QB for the heisman trophy ran the ball three times and took three points like a competent OC would have called especially since ND’s ground game was getting five yards a carry against a gassed USC defense.

His PFF interception to touchdown ratio was considered great. So the interceptions don't seem to matter, particularly because most of them were on passes over 20 yards.
I think it's a great pick up, but I also believe there is going to be a competition, and don't be surprised if Buchner is named the starter.
That said, It's great having a seasoned QB in case a starter gets injured.
Freeman and Rees are dead set on creating competition and pushing slugs out the door. Both of which need to happen to win a title or at least get back to respectability and not lose to the likes of Marshall. I disagree that there will be a real competition. I think there will be a puppet competition, but I just can't imagine some promises weren't made behind closed doors to the all time ACC leader that you're the guy just don't **** it up.
