F+ is a complete joke

What tends to happen in the traditional polling/ranking systems is that a lot of information isn't considered which is why those ranking systems aren't as accurate.
Like a ranking/poll where Oregon with no losses is ranked higher than the team they defeated? You mean like that kind of flawed polling?

Or do you mean the one that had the 2018 Clemson team who finished 15-0 by drubbing Alabama finish ranked # 3 behind Alabama and Georgia.

So Oregon beats Ohio State yet Ohio State is ranked higher than them? How in the hell does that happen?

They both have one loss, to the same team, at the same location, by the same outcome.

The only thing you can do is look at head to head...
if that doesn't happen then what common opponents do they share...
what was the outcome of those?
One common opponent and the outcome was identical.

I'm not suggesting BSU be ranked #1 but if this garbage system has OSU as #1...ranked ahead of the very team they lost to...
then BSU most certainly isn't ranked #18!

Some day the trendies will realize the days of the have's and have not's are long gone.

This P5, G5 nonsense is just that...nonsense.

Moreover no matter the conference you have a couple teams at the top who are strong and a whole bunch meddling in the middle.

Perception does NOT make reality and that's all this is.

Until you have a slew of cross conference games, the SEC willing to put the big boy pants on and play north the Mason Dixon line post Halloween...
everything and I do mean everything is simply a matter of assumed perception from days of yore.

Teams get the benefit of the doubt far too often and far too long based on what they did yesterday.

At one time we enjoyed this nonsense too.

Maybe someday we will get back to that but we have to start winning major post season affairs.
Ohio states sos is 26th. Boise is 68th

Ohio state has a top 10 win and 5 p4 wins

Boise has a top 20 win but 0 p4 wins.

That's the major difference.

This is a more extreme example but should NIU be ranked ahead of Notre Dame since they beat them?

Of course not .. because there's 11 other games in the regular season schedule with which to evaluate the quality of these respective programs and ND is clearly a much better team than NIU despite their head to head loss.

Basically you can take this logic and apply it to ANY situation where one program is ranked ahead of another despite a head to head loss:

How have they performed in all of their other games comparatively ?

No NIU should not because they have 4 loses while ND only one. If they had the same # of loses then yes. Come on. Phase, you can’t be this stupid. If head to head doesn’t count why play the game?

Computers love a quality loss.

No, algorithms love information because there's something that can be used from ALL information with which you can increase the quality of the statistical evaluation of a team with.

Whether its a close win/loss/blowout/tie game/etc. doesn't matter. ALL information is good.

You say that as though this is the first time it happened. It always happens, see 1993 ND-FSU. Computers love a quality loss.

Interesting that F+ has Wisconsin at 33 but Virginia at 69. Wisconsin has struggled against some weaker teams early and has the same record as Virginia prior to today. It’s difficult to see how they’re that far apart.

Another reason to not dog on ND for pretty easily beating up Virginia.
