Good win but this was a really BAD sparty team

Still a long ways to go but these threads are fun to look at. As was the "what will ND's record be after the UNC game" thread posted immediately after the UGA loss. Lot of bed wetters in that thread

The UGA game still bugs me because I do think we had such a great chance to win that one but with this stretch of games coming up, it's definitely go time as every week the opponents can create matchup problems for us in such different ways. I'm nervous and excited to see what we can do and have belief that this team will do the extra things during the week to execute the game plan.

To me, the Georgia game summed up the limitations of a Kelly-coached team. The offense couldn't seem to get out of its own way most of that game. Georgia's defense was lights-out great -- fast and strong -- but I still think we had enough weapons to move the ball better than we did, but it didn't seem like there was any urgency to do so.

That said, Kelly is a good enough coach to prepare his team well enough to win most of its games. It will be interesting to see how he handles what looks like a very challenging second half of the season. We could go 2-4 or maybe surprise the world.

I'm very impressed with the defense so far this season, especially Tranquill who has become an absolute beast. I still think the weak link on offense is Wimbush's arm (we've dodged a dozen bullets so far), I have also joined those who think our wide receivers are either overrated or poorly coached.

One of the nice things about this season is we have so far seen very few serious injuries, although the running back situation has me a bit concerned.

Enjoy it while you can because I get the impression that next year we'll be rebuilding the front seven on defense and hoping for a new offensive line to come together earlier than later.

do ND fans ever give the opponent credit for the W?

If ND had it’s true Fr. backup QB starting his first game on the road and won a game by 1 point, they would be boasting that ND would have won easily if the starter had played.

Depends how much credit.
For example recent games vs Tulsa and North Western, it seems without bad decision making late in the game, Notre Dame would've won.

Plus, that ticky-tacky personal foul on 3rd and 16 helped them get a scoring drive rather than a punt.

And yet nobody complains when we benefit from one of those calls.

You shove a quarterback hard when he has stepped out of bounds, you are going to get penalized.

Don t you know ND never gets beat. They only lose.

It's definitely a judgment call for the refs. Not sure the announcers used the term 'ticky-tacky' during replay but they were questioning the call as well.
