FSU 45. LSU 24. 8 years and $100mill!

Shocking? All you have to do is look at Kelly's record vs top 10 teams in prime time. That will give you the results expected.

In prime time? Was the Bama game in prime time?

His team wasn't ready for the moment. But they are talented. The Tigers outplayed the Noles in the first half. They should have been up at least by ten. They are probably still the third best team in the SEC, which ain't bad.

I hate Kelly but he is still a good coach.

Good not great. Good doesn't win you championships. LSU isn't paying Kelly to be 3rd in the SEC.

Correction. Decent coach.

I used to be a fan.....

But games like this make me happy that Marcus Freeman is Head Coach at the University of Notre Dame

We’ll see on Marcus. I still have a bad taste in my mouth regarding Marshall and Stanford last year. The Clemson game helped some though

He’s definitely a better recruiter than Kelly though. He seems more honest and charismatic than Kelly as well.

Unfortunately he was left with a poor qb room

I like what I've seen since he became head coach

Minchey, Hartman, Carr

Which equates to decent to me. Some bad, some good qualities. Nothing special

He has other people doing the recruiting. And TV interviews only amount to maybe 1% of the job.

I think Kelly is a douche, but he is a good coach. His LSU hires have received high praise.

Like his special teams hires..... yikes

Here is the problem with the Kelly/Rees offense. The running game is never established. Also, he is better off with a pure drop back passer than a dual threat guy. Sure the dual threat QB is flashy and exciting at times but no rhythm is ever established on offense. The D figures this out and blitzes the helpless QB who then becomes the main runner. Every play becomes predictable and they are working out of 2nd and 15 or 3rd and 20 etc. Kelly also goes for it too much on 4th down instead of kicking field goals. This is his overconfident, arrogant personality. LSU is gonna struggle this year. He should replace Daniels with the pure passing QB Nussmeier and start running the football. But Kelly is a stupid, arrogant, mediocre offensive mind.
A message to Freeman and Parker: You absolutely have to establish the run to wear down an opposing defense. Go back and look at old Lou Holtz highlights- this is a MUST! If you are pass happy and can't score the other team will gain momentum and crush you, The game is all about attrition and momentum. This is why several of us disliked Kelly even though he got us to the playoffs twice. When you play the ranked teams with equal or greater talent level, it is vital to use the running game first and then throw when the opportunity presents itself and NOT vice versa.

FSU made the better halftime adjustments. And they have a better QB, too. Daniels is a good runner, but an average passer. And Coleman from Michigan State was definitely the best receiver in the game.

I agree on the adjustments part, but Travis made several poor decisions that could have cost his team. Daniels had some nice throws too.

It kind of sucks that Daniels will make Kelly look better than he is. Kelly sure could have used that talent at ND from 2017-2021.

A lot of early celebrating going on after a single loss in the opener. At past stops it always took Kelly 3 years to really show what he can do. I still see him having a ton of success there but I am a little disappointed in the way LSU is recruiting since he got there I thought for sure he would be able to get the horses at LSU that he wasn't getting at Notre Dame but when you look at LSUs classes they aren't really getting the top prospects anymore since he arrived

He’s a lazy recruiter and it’s known. Not Ty Willingham lazy, but not aggressive at all.

Yeah, but LSU just needed to cut out their own sloppy play in the first half. Tigers were outplaying the Noles, and if they didn't keep shooting themselves in the foot, would have been up by two TDs at halftime.

I am not quite sure what adjustments you should make other than attempting to get your team to concentrate a bit more.

I don't think it's lazy recruiting I think it's lack of being able to connect with 18-year-olds and lack of ability to build a culture that they want to be a part of. Same problem he had at Notre Dame and that Notre Dame is still having to this day with NDs current leadership. but I digress

Kelly isn't young anymore either he never had a Saban-like peak but he was really good and overcame a lot of challenges and handicaps at Notre Dame to field some good nationally competitive teams -- it's possible ND got his best years and he may just be on the decline of his career

He's not a dogged recruiter. That cost him at ND and will cost him at LSU
