We have said it over and over.
What is Notre Dame going to do to get elite defensive lineman year after year? Every year! Every year!
It's such a joke to sign guys every year that are projects that will never play.

2017- defensive line looks like a dumpster fire.
You are going to depend on Tillery, A concussed Daniel Cage, Bonner,
Ridiculously undersized Trumbetti, Jay Hayes and undersized learning a new position in Daylin Hayes.

C'mon! That has 6-6, 7-5 or 5-7 written all over it or way worse.
How will the school fix this?
This has been a problem for decades at defensive line.

We recruit elite Qbs- Clausen,
We get Michael Floyd, Golden Tate,
Elite Tight Ends- Rudolph,

Supposedly great offensive lineman
Recently.
Manti Teo, Jaylon Smith,

The secondary that Todd Lyght brought in looks good. (Vaughn, Love)

Question for coaching gurus.
How do you play with those guys?
What do you run?
3-4 to use more talent at linebacker.
The best coordinator on earth can't fix the mess at dline.

The school and Jack need to fix this going forward. Why would a good head coach ever take the job when year after year you are forced to get dline projects?

It's a shame that the team has talent everywhere but this dline has no elite talent and zero depth.

If Brian Kelly doesn't believe in a power running game or having any need for even a situational short ydg package .... he obviously believes it is not important ... likewise if these fascets of football have no value to his offense he probably feels that stopping it is equally unimportant

That is the 64K question -- why do not the "elite" kids (DL in particular) want to come here? Or is it, they want to come here, but simply cannot get past admissions? Is it the scheme/type of defense ND plays?

You said it -- the school and Jack S (and Kelly and staff) need to fix this -- is it lowering/altering some admissions standards? Is it the culture?

I would be curious after signing day if a survey was taken of the top D-Line prospects who chose to not attend ND and get their reasons as to why they chose the way they did (other than they liked the school they chose). Get an un-altered, down a dirty reason as to why (anonymous of course...). I think this may be fascinating.

I'd like to see them run a 3-4 with tillery, cage, and a beefed up khalid Kareem at the other d end. Linebacker you have nyles Morgan at inside and daelin Hayes at outside along with coney/bilal/martini/okwara playing the other spots.
