Chase Hounshell and Anthony Fasano and Mark Bavaro were all listed at 6'4.5" 255 lbs their last seasons at Notre Dame.

All are beasts with an aggressive tough mind set !! Chase is going to be the #1 tight end for the Irish this year! Mark my words !

Chase Hounshell is a senior with zero receptions.

Let's see you name one play by Hounshell that impressed you...

SENIOR SEASON (2014): Played in three games (Rice, Louisville and USC) ... moved into the defensive line rotation late in the regular season following injuries to Sheldon Day, Jarron Jones and Daniel Cage ... registered two tackles at USC (Nov. 29).

JUNIOR SEASON (2013): Missed the entire season with an injury.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2012): Saw action in the season opener against Navy but missed the rest of the season due to injury.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2011): Competed in seven games in a reserve role for the Irish, tallying four tackles ... played against Air Force, USC, Navy, Maryland, Boston College, Stanford and Florida State ... all four tackles came in a victory vs. Air Force ... had one solo and three assisted tackles.

I hope Chase gets an opportunity in short yardage situations as a blocker with Latua. I thing that's where it begins and ends. With that being said , I give that kid a lot of credit. He must be a tough guy and have a lot of heart. Those two qualities are needed to compete . ND needs guys like him around the program but the compare him to one of the greatest TE's of all-time is something I think Chase would laugh at.

After a year away, I see that the silly and irrational posts of certain Rah Rah posters never change. How this comparison can be made is baffling.

I did not say Chase was anywhere near as good as Bavaro or Fasano. I just said that they were all beasts and are very similar in size. From what I heard from the ND beat writers is that Chase has been a better blocker than any other Irish tight end and he has earned a first string position.
And who knows how good he may become. Bvaro didn't blossom until his senior year and Troy Niklas had one pretty good year before he made a NFL roster.

No, you made your comparison based on height and weight. Lets not distort the rationale for your post. It was a silly post and you should own it. Where was this "beast" when he was moved off the OL and DL? I guess he has "beastlike hands". LOL, Just own the stupid post and lets put an end to it. If he is the best we have at TE, we are in for a long year.

How bout make it another year away, Lucky green. Really live up to your new handle and make yourself invisible. You were the biggest flaming troll when you were here before. Your act grew old, quick.

"Bvaro didn't blossom until his senior year"

Huh? He was pretty darn stout his RS junior year.

In 1983 Bavaro had 23 receptions 376 yds 3 TD's and averaged 16.3 yds per catch.

In 1984 He had 32 receptions 395 yds and 1 TD and averaged 12.3 yds per catch and made All American.
