Carr is Irish!

You have to look at the level of competition. That has to be factored in.
Clint Cosgrove from Rivals, when asked by Adam Gorney his opinion of CJ Carr, said Carr was " polished, accurate, throws well on the run, strong arm, quick release, understands the game, complete package, natural leader, and a perfect face of a program."

Either you or Cosgrove are full of crap.

High School football is not a good indicator of talent and projecting how well guys will do on the next level. You can make that same argument with college going into the NFL. How many guys in the NFL are from small schools that couldn't even make it to a bowl game and had an average career? A lot!

It's ridiculous to get into an argument right now about Carr vs. Moore. The games they win, the camps they participate in, the stats they put up, and lastly their recruiting rankings are simply an educated guess on how good they SHOULD be. Not how good they will be.

However, that doesn't mean ND shouldn't go after 5 star players. It basically means if you get a 5 star player, you probably got a 50/50 chance or better that he will be a really good player. 4 star player probably a 35-40% chance they'll be a good player. 3 star player, 25-35% chance and so on. Let this play out fellas...

I can name every team Saline play’s in the regular season. Those teams and bad to average. Saline went 9-0 this season in the regular season. Then, they were beat up pretty bad in the first round by Canton. An average team that was bounced by 41 points in the next round.

Guys, we have talked multiple times about the compaction guys play. I know first hand the teams CJ plays. You can name any and all experts you want, he has NEVER played against any D1 or even high D2 recruits. The Gleeac is a a top D2 division in the area. Not one player he has faced is being recruited by these schools.

If CJ was from Florida or something, then I would probably be as happy as most of you. Why? Because his film does look really good. But the comp is really bad.

Moore plays against D1 players every week in high school. Carr has played against zero.

the same could be said about TB’s competition. Sometimes you can only look at the raw ability and “guess”.

This wacko compared CJ Carr committing to ND to Obama's grandson playing QB for bin Laden. This is the Michigan media and actually a fairly good representation of the majority of Michigan's football fans in general. Said MF is a schmuck and will get fired. CJ will transfer. They just keep embarrassing 🤪 themselves. And our media and fans are being called out. 🤣. It seems to be he might've been day drinking at his kids game.

The level of HS competition is a legit factor. However, Carr has dominated the camp circuit...which basically compares him to his peers. There's a reason all four BCS championship tournament teams offered this kid, along with ND, and many others. They see something special in him and his potential.

well if he gets to the Elite 11’s we should find out much more; that was TB’s reveal.

We will find out much more when CJ Carr plays under the bright lights on a Saturday, not a shorts and t-shirt competition where the defense is not invited.

No offense to any talent scouts on the board but the teams that offered him seem to know what they are doing the last few years so I’m gonna go with Saban, Kirby and MF. Time will tell.

Just watch him throw. It’s painfully obvious that he has an ELITE arm and very good mechanics. Anyone saying differently doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

No. An Elite arm is an Elite arm regardless of competition. While he doesn’t have a cannon for an arm, he has above average arm strength and he’s fitting throws pretty effortlessly into tight windows. Look at his footwork and pocket presence. It’s very good. Especially for a Sophmore in HS.

Would it not be relative? Would Moore have more talented receivers, RB's, TE's, OL? Would the coaches be better? The facilities and equipment better? Competition is really more about the number of talented people, I doubt it means you cannot be talented. The most talented RB I ever played against in Highschool was from one of the smallest schools in S. ILL. As a soph he ran for over 300 yards on our varsity. I'm just not sure Competition erases talent. It might be a factor, but I think its all relative.

Here in Michigan, 7on7 is as popular as AAU basketball. However, kids look great in 7on7 but in a real game they look average.

Completion is a big deal. CJ has never had a D1 LB or D1 DE coming at him. He has never faced a high caliber secondary.

Moore has faced all the above every week.

I agree my friend. But remember, offers do not equal commitment to a player.

Wow! If ND beats up on a 0-8 team, are you going to get excited about that??? If ND beats or even loses by less than a TD to Bama, you will be very happy with that.

Notre Dame has the longest winning streak in the nation against unranked teams.

"If winning like that was so easy, everyone would do it." Lou S.

All wins matter.

I firmly believe in the “little brother” theory. Dominating my little brother everyday in the backyard means nothing. No matter how great I might look.

Competition is everything.

Competition means everything. Everyone on this board bashed Kelly because ND looked good against the mid to low level teams but then got destroyed by the elite teams. It’s playing and beating the elite teams that really shows you who you are.

Guess every recruiting analyst, all of whom have likely been evaluating kids for 15+ years, as well as coaches and staff from every big time program, are all wrong about CJ then. Glad you were able to come here and give us the real skinny on CJ. That was a close one!

and he’s never thrown to a D1 WR/TE or handed off to a D1 RB while having a D1 OL blocking for him. Your argument is trash honestly. He has obviously done VERY well at camp circuits in comparison to other QB’s who play better competition.

Jack Kiser attended Pioneer High School in Royal Center, Indiana...a 2A (out of 5) class school. Their current enrollment is about 450. I believe it may have been 1A not too long ago...could be wrong. But Kiser was a special talent, even at the level of his competition....and he's a pretty good linebacker at Notre Dame. Point being, if a player has that natural talent, and develops it, the limitations of competition can be overcome. BTW, Kiser played both sides of the ball....common in the smaller schools. I think this is an added dimension to their game, which only helps them with football IQ and versatility.

not the same things. Carr’s intangibles are excellent regardless of the competition he plays against.

Not true.

I remember the old saying. They looked good coming off the bus and in the layup line.
Absolutely true. If you can evaluate talent, you can evaluate talent. Who they play against is meaningless if you feel you can evaluate

Has nothing to do with being able to evaluate talent. If the coaches can't evaluate, they dont deserve that job

Yup, they should. But they offered the kid last year so….

Do I need to make a list of every QB ND recruited that once they got on campus everyone on this board called the coach stupid for recruiting him???

The kid is average.

I absolutely love ND football. I am a huge fan of Freeman and Tommy. But I know first hand this is a reach. I have zero reason to be bias.

Moore is the QB they should have sold the farm for.
I’m stunned reading all of this. Did Pers steal Zorich’s log-in info??

Who can investigate this?

I just feel it’s not as good as everyone thinks. Again, if this young man was from Florida or some other State, I would probably be as excited as you guys. But this is a player from my backyard, I know a lot about high school football in Michigan.

But hopefully I am wrong and you guys are right.

Let’s see how he plays this season in the playoffs. Saline will roll through Conferance play so the playoffs will show how good he really is. My Guess they exit 2nd round.

Wouldn't that mean the players around him are not very good then? So he's performing this well with average players around him. Impressive

Coaches/recruiters get it wrong every year on every team. Look at the NFL talent evaluators. They continuously get it wrong. But they also get it right so….
