I'm so sick of people anointing teams as invincible before the season is even over.

I listened to the same nonsense in 1993 when the talking heads said ND better hope for snow and grow their grass long if they wanted to stay with Charlie Ward's Seminoles in a mid November game in South Bend. Of course ND kicked their butt before Lou Holtz predictably shut down the offense and went to his famous/stupid three man prevent defense that let them back into the game.

ND is loaded too with play-makers all over the field. One thing Kelly is very good at is recruiting where he identifies and gets 3 to 4 star players with upside, brains and a willingness to work. However he's often short on common sense when playing Joe Schmidt over Nyles Morgan, Greer Martini over Te'von Coney, Freddie Canteen over Miles Boykin, etc, etc., etc. Further hiring Boob Diaco and Brian VanGoofy to run your defense was very dumb and essentially guaranteed several losses against teams with equal talent and better coaching.

Football is a QB's game and if we can disrupt Alabama's passing game and cause a turnover or two then it's anyone's game. Further the longer Alabama or Clemson start to press when the talking heads told them they should be up by 28 at halftime the more likely they will make further mistakes. Granted we can't lose any studs between now and then so if Tillery, Okwara, Kareem, Dexter go down then it will be harder but still not impossible.

We need to prep Jordan Genmark-Heath as a starter now in place of Asmar Bilal. We can't rely on Coney being the only linebacker making plays. Tranquil is our emotional leader but even when he's healthy I never see him making many plays either. It's almost as if Coney is our only linebacker. Leave Tranquil in but JG-H stuck his head in a couple piles last night and made himself visible and that alone should get him starting in front of Bilal who has not played well ever.

Further we need to shore up our safety position and overall pass coverage. Jalen Elliot visibly grabbing a receiver in the end-zone in front of an official was beyond stupid and has become common place too often. Make a play on the ball and stop bailing out teams on 3rd and long with stupid pass interference penalties.

Getting Aaron Banks in the starting lineup now was very smart and we need to make more adjustments at other positions now as well as it will give us a stronger and more effective team down the stretch.

ND can win the National Title! We can move the ball on anyone in the country and if we clean up some things on defense and stay healthy this could be a very magical year! Go Irish!

It’s just the negative Nancies pissed off because we are having a great season and raining on their neg-parade. Just beat FSU.

The question is.......if ND and Bama played next week neutral site game would you put $500 on ND to win? No...no you wouldn’t. That’s not being wimpy. That’s just how this year is playing out.

Keep your head up.....no reason to be sorry.
Look. No shame in ND. But honestly if ND played perfect, and Bama played poor, I think still Bama wins in 7. This is the best college team I’ve ever seen.

Clemson has about a 15% chance to beat them.

Thanks for talking for me.....didn't know you were my fiduciary.

However we don't even know if Alabama will get past Auburn and Georgia. We don't know if we'll get tripped up yet. You play the games for a reason. Let's see what happens on the field before concluding we will lose to anyone.

Ok then we'll throw a big party after the season if we go 12 & 0 and tell the NCAA that we don't want to sacrifice any potential injuries for a game we clearly won't win and therefore we'll officially forfeit our spot in the playoffs. Only makes sense since you and some others have already determined we can't win so we why bother showing up and trying to win another national championship.

Just remember the Power 5 football conferences were deemed too strong with too many advantages in NCAA men's basketball recently for the non power conferences to compete anymore. Yet Villanova went on to win two of the last three national championships. Gonzaga was a runner up in another championship and Loyola just went to the final four. Japan had their country decimated by WWII and have no natural resources and yet they rebuilt within 20 years and have remained an economic super power. The number rule in business, sports and life is never to underestimate your competition and what they're capable of. Hence why the games are always played so I'm not giving Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame or anyone else the championship just yet.

The key to beating any team is great defense ! If our defense plays a great game and our offense avoids
Turnovers and our special teams don’t give up big plays. We can beat any team !
In short, any team can beat any other team on any given nights !
Beating Bama or Clemson will be very tough to do, but it can be done ?

They both look damn good but they haven't really played anyone (okay LSU but they have no offense ) -- we have by far the best win of any top five team.

Alabama is clearly the best team. However, ND could hang with them. I’m not sure they could win straight up. You never know. The Irish defense is pretty darn good. I think with Book st QB , they always have a chance. He’s very calm out there. I for one would love to see ND play Bama. For now, let’s just focus on FSU.

Bamer is -200 to win it all. Clemson is +300 and ND is +700. That means the King of the North is getting some real respect in Vegas. It also means if you are sure that either Alabama or Clemson is going to win it you can make money. If you place 100,000 on Alabama and $40,000 on Clemson, you will net either $10,000 or $20,000. Irish are still longish shots to beat Bama in Atlanta, but we are 7 to 1 with the third best odds. Good stuff.
