Brando: ND Will Be Full ACC Member in 3 Years

the committee has shown that they look at EVERYTHING. which is as it should be. Frankly as long as ND takes care of business which is winning then everything else will work out WITHOUT being in a conference.

Hmm. Baylor, TCU & Okie St vs Navy.

If we'd gone 11-1 it would've also included @Stanford, which arguably trumps any of those. Not to mention USC and Texas, the team that beat them. At any rate, like I said, it's debatable.

Okay, I see what you mean. I agree it would have been a very close choice between ND and the B12 champ Sooners had you defeated the Trees.

Still would love to continue or schedule series with Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan State, Stanford Georgia or other SEC teams along with annual games with USC and Navy plus Northwestern ,Purdue at times . Think this type of schedule plus playing powerhouse teams like FloridaState ,Clemson, emerging North Carolina , Louisville ,Pitt , Miami in the ACC would qualify Notre Dame for a final 4 berth .

I keep repeating myself . A few extra million yearly is not that important .

Question : I have not gotten a satisfactory answer. Would Notre Dame joining the ACC full time bring that much more TV contract money to the conference?

WRT your question, it is all speculation. It would certainly give the ACC a boost, but it would also probably mean a 16 way split. Having no ACC Network at this point also hurts. I think it would mean at least an extra $5-10 million per year extra for ND. Less than that for the other ACC programs.

Yes.

So, ND does (or will do) whatever makes economic sense, eh? Like selling advertising in the stadium? Like selling naming rights to the stadium? Like putting its TV rights up for bids? Like allowing the Athletic Dept to keep all the $$$ it earns? There are many examples of ND, unlike other schools, foregoing millions in economic benefits. Only a know-nothing blow hard would think economic pressures/priorities for other schools (eg joining a conf) must apply to ND.

Hard to imagine that you have the nerve to criticize others for being "know-nothings." You were the guy who posted that the ND basketball season was over less than halfway through the season.

I think we should maintain independent status and believe that we won't make a decision based on making more money. Consider it the price we pay for being independent. All this talk about our scheduling vs. conference scheduling is a joke too. We play a good schedule year in & year out. Is a good schedule guaranteed year in & year out when a team is in a conference? I don't think so (unless u're in the SEC where ur schedule is automatically highly ranked). I think what will push us into a conference (or at least some kind of conference affiliation moreso than what we have now w/ the ACC), is the committee's approach to putting us into the playoffs. Last year was a prime example of ND potentially getting unfairly left out. ND had a better, best win than Oklahoma and they lost to a team we crushed. Pretty boy Kirk had a hard-on for them and everyone else jumped on board. It would've been one example of how ND could be forced into a conference. A few more of those, & I can see us biting the conference bullet. I'd be fine w/ staying Indy and taking our chances that the committee will be fair w/ us, but that may not be the case. I still don't know what would've happened had we held on at Stanford, but for it to have been that close a call w/ Oklahoma to begin w/ is a bit of an indicator of how they're gonna play it. I find it hard to believe that an undefeated or 1 loss ND team that clearly deserves a top 4 ranking won't be considered, but I guess if the committee (& the rest of college football) wants us to join a conference badly enough, keeping us out is the way to go. But all this means nothing if ND doesn't win, & win big, so let's do some big winning first (which is what we would've done last year had we held on at Stanford), and let the chips fall where the may, & then respond to joining a conference when we r forced to respond.

The ACC announced this week that they are looking at a 9 game conference schedule for 2017. If done, it is likely linked to reports that they are trying to finalize a network deal with ESPN. This also changes the ACC view from three years ago. When they expanded to 14 teams, they decided to go to a 9 game schedule. When the ND contract happened, they decided not to do that. If they reverse direction again and go to 9 games, that would leave the SEC as the only conference that plays only 8 conference games. Saban wants to go to 9. They obviously already have a network, but if the SEC thinks that the committee will look more favorably at a 9 game conference schedule, they will change. The B12 is still studying expansion, and if you believe the Texas insiders, they may push for Houston. It doesn't sound like it will increase the marketing footprint, but the SEC has proven that you can make a national brand from a regional footprint. And Houston is the only Texas city where Aggie alums outnumber UT alums, and Texas wants to reduce the SEC slant in local Houston sports reporting. We shall see. The conference revenue wars clearly create action and reaction.

ND will figure out for itself what it needs or wants to do. But no one in the conference world (which includes 64 out of 65 P5 schools) talks about ND with all this noise going on. Conferences are fighting among themselves for TV contracts, scheduling advantages and favorable media exposure. Sure the ACC has its ND arrangement, but its pretty clear now that if they go to 9 games, they are making moves because of the actions of the other conferences. The ACC really wants a network and it looks like they need a 9 game conference schedule to get one. The Big 12 may not have one, but the ACC shares geography with the Big Ten and the SEC.

North VaNole......

Wow........very interesting. So, in your opinion do you think going to a 9 game conference schedule would enhance or diminish ND's likelyhood of joining the ACC full time in football?

No surprise you have a lousy imagination, SMC chick.

You are a fraud. Every regular on this board knows it. Less than halfway through this basketball season, you declared the season over. I called you on it. Lots of other posters called you on it. I did not attend SMC, although I know a lot of SMC alumna who know more about ND than you do.

You should be forewarned that I am going to continue to remind you of how you threw in the towel on the basketball team.

I am now editing this post to include the thread you started. Now everyone can see what kind of ND fan you are. I see that you have gone back in and deleted the post by which you started the thread. You are a coward.

ND has a football tv contract with NBC through 2025. Unless the ACC convinces NBC to become their network there is no reason to even consider this ridiculous idea.

ROTFLMAO! You STILL have your panties in a wad over my criticism of Brey? Maybe its time to pull your big boy pants out.

More BS from you. It had nothing to do with Brey. It was you throwing in the towel on the team. Everyone can now read your posts on the thread I linked. You are a fraud.

If someone wants to read about why you got your panties in a wad (and are apparently unable to get over it six months later), they will find that my criticism was of Brey, not the team or any players. In fact, I argued extensively against those who blamed players rather than Brey. You are not only a Brey shill, you are a pathological liar.

You are a liar. Anyone can read your posts on the thread. Many posters called you on it then, We all recognized it. Keep digging that hole deeper.

Here's an example from the thread I linked. Any mention of Brey? Nope. Just another example of you trashing the team.

You mean, you're analysis was spot on, unless someone was capable of projecting a team to improve and play up to the inconsistent potential they had shown

And yes, some people are able to look past the present moment and put together an actually intelligent opinion and project of the future

Unfortunately, you're not one of those people
I'm guessing you projected a choke vs 4-9 GT?

Here's another: "the team" just took its worst loss. Again, no mention of Brey. Have you taken enough punches or shall I go on?

It's tough winning on the road in any league! Demetrius clearly called timeout when he had clear possession with 17 seconds left. No whistle until he was tied up. That's life on the road.
We are one week from March and the team just took its worst RPI loss of the year and "that's life"? You said it, not me.

I would think that ND would be challenged to join any conference that plays 9 conference games. But if the ACC goes to 9 games, that would put them on the same level as the Big Ten. They go to 9 games this year.

I note that you have no response to your posts which I have copied above.
Go through the thread again. It's not just me. In fact, it's not just a few posters. No fewer than a dozen posters blasted you for your anti-ND sentiments. You lose.

Unhinged? Nah, I just want everyone to know that you are masquerading as a Notre Dame fan. Your posts on the linked thread make that abundantly clear. Yet, rather than slink away, you continue to come back for more abuse.

Pathetic. Fraudulent. Go away.
I'm beginning to genuinely feel bad for you. I hadn't really given much thought to how beyond horrible it must be for a genuinely unhinged person to be called unhinged.

God bless you, Classic. I was beginning to worry for SMC's welfare. Now that you have graciously provided the validation soooooo desparately needed, I can rest easy.

Not sure what point this nonsensical post is intending to make---if it has a point at all. The only validation you received was being validated as a fool by the host of posters on that thread who derided you for quitting on the team---posters you called "Brey shills." But hey, "fool," "quitter,"---whatever works for you.

Yes, I remember very clearly. Thanks for admitting I was critical of Brey, not the players - SMC isn't going to appreciate that little slip of the keyboard. It is, after all, a defender of Brey, not a defender of players who would be called a Brey shill. You girls really need to sync your stories before hitting the keyboard. More importantly, why in hell do you stilll have your panties in a wad after all these months? Sad, sad, sad. Get over the it!

Edit: You validated SMC, not me. She was all alone for hours waiting for someone to validate her. You came to the rescue and made it possible for me to stop worrying about her state of mind and any rash behaviors that might follow. I am very grateful to you for that.

In addition to being a fraud, this poster has a real maturity issue. He thinks it's an insult to refer to someone as a female. Real junior high stuff, but not surprising when you consider the source.

It's obvious to everyone that you're not too bright, but let me spell this out for you again: NDSMC78 is an ND grad, class of 1978 and is a male. I realize it must make you feel more like a man to call people who publicly humiliate you a girl, but you really need to grow up and confront your insecurities about your masculinity. I'm also a male, ND class of 1992. It's obvious you're not really tethered to reality, but deal with it.

No, you quit on the team. And you were roundly mocked by NUMEROUS posters on that thread at the time. But keep denying it all you want. Again, the only one validated was you being validated as a quitter and idiot---take a look at your thread about the basketball season. Though it may be too embarrassing for you relive, you were roundly laughed at and mocked---not by one person, not by a few people, but by numerous people. If you want to think that those multiple people were all collaborating to mock you, then you really need medical treatment for your paranoia.

Sync our stories? You can believe whatever you want---you obviously believe a lot of inane things. Here's a suggestion: consult your local phone directory for the number of a good psychiatrist. They have meds and other therapies now that can help with your male insecurity and paranoid delusions.

Exactly. But remember: if more than one person calls him out for something, then there must be some kind of vast conspiracy of women (and their panties apparently) behind it. Talk about someone in desperate need of a psychiatrist.
