ACC Improvements:

  1. Last year was a banner year for ACC football accomplishments and one could argue that FSU kick started it all with winning a National Championship the year before.
  2. Clemson has steadily improved its status and just might be in elite status by the end of the season. Obviously, their recruiting has created a foundation that allowed them to overcome NFL attrition and graduation.
  3. FSU may have taken a small step back but they are still in the national title contender hunt and basically the learning curve for the young players is taking longer than expected. Watch out for next season.
  4. Louisville.... see point 3.
  5. Middle programs are showing improvement beyond expectations. No one saw Pitt, Duke or UNC performing the way they have. Although Cuse is struggling, they are not the atrocity they once were.
  6. Coaching change will benefit the conference far beyond what people believe. The turnaround at Miami will be immediate with the correct coaching hire. Rich Rod, Butch, Schiano and Richt can turn that program around in one season. There is a huge interest in that coaching job and although many point to facilities and stadium as an issues, the recruiting advantage throws that out the window. People seem to forget that Miami stocked their roster with players from South FL (Miami-Dade and Broward Counties) while cherry picking 5 star talent from the rest of the nation. When you have the best recruiting ground packed full of talent who dream of playing for the U, facilities and stadium really doesn't matter. Beamer's retirement helped Va Tech from too long of a swoon. Again, with the right hire, they will not stay down for long.
  7. The change is happening.

Just for the record ... 100% of real and actual FSU/ACC fans (and not fake identities used to open annoying threads to make FSU/ACC fans look bad) acknowledge the obvious fact that FSU is no longer a national title contender. Nor an Atlantic Division contender.

So are you saying Duo is a poser? He has posted on Chant for years. He was banned here for his annoying threads, but got a reprieve with the format change.

That explains a lot, scout. His posts are so stupid, they have to be made up.

Another good thing that happened at the end of last season was that the ACC beat SEC rivals in the final weekend(FSU over UF, Ga Tech over Ga. in Athens, Clemson ending a 5-game winning streak by S.C. and Lou beating their rivals Kentucky)....Then, Ga. Tech smashed Mississippi State who had been the #1 team for most of last season in their bowl game, and Clemson took Oklahoma behind the woodshed as well in their Bowl game ...Not to mention, Notre Dame beat LSU in Charlotte which also helped the image of the ACC, since the Irish had already lost to FSU earlier last season....FSU did look overmatched against Oregon in the Playoff, but they were still in the Playoff, and it was the Noles first loss in a couple seasons with a National Championship Trophy won during that time...

The ACC's best statement every season can be made when they beat the SEC head-to-head because the SEC gets all the publicity and noteriety that they'll ever need from ESPN and CBS, while the ACC always gets trashed by those very same networks....

Will be interesting to see the new hires, and what they do at Miami,Va.Tech and probably UVA?....There's great potential at all 3 schools, especially in South Florida.

Pitt hit a homerun with Narduzzi, especially if he hangs around 4 or 5 years?

Ga. Tech has a good situation with the Yellowjackets , even though a lot of Yellowjacket fans probably want him and the Option-offense gone?

Louiville is only going to get better with Petrino at the helm!

Duke is enjoying the most success they've had in a very long time, and Bowl games are not a thing of the past, but have become a common occurrence every season under Cutcliffe, and don't really see that changing as long as he's there.

The Clemson Tigers can now be considered among the Nation's Elite teams most seasons, moving forward.

Same can be said for Jimbo Fisher and FSU....

Be interesting to see how much improvement will take place between this year and next at Wake and BC as both teams were pretty young this year, but were still competitive.

It may take a little while longer for the ACC to get more of the deserved recognition that we all would like to see, but you've got to like the way the conference is trending.

Another big moment in the future which will likely reshape and boost the image of the ACC at the same time, will be specifically when Notre Dame finally makes the decision to join the ACC as a Full-Member for Football. It will be a big boost for the conference when that happens, and we will likely see some version of an ACC Network with more money for all the members as well.

No real FSU fan who has been around here that long can possibly be so oblivious to Argus and his "progeny" as to post this here. Don't you agree?

Let alone initiate a thread (this past summer) to celebrate criminal charges being dropped against an FSU player. Gee, you'll never guess what happened next in that thread.

I've notice the token nature of the posts on Warchant, not substantive or invested. Duo exists to do the dirty work of opening FSU threads on this board while naturally not leaving a positive impression.

Do you see Miami threads being opened? Georgia Tech? Clemson even, a team you played? Anyone else? Funny how it's always FSU.

I really wish the mods here would ban FSU as a topic here and immediately delete any thread. I really only came here to read about ND.

Like Alice says, been posting here for years.

Hi Alice, nice to hear from you again. Seeing Clemson and ND making a run this year at the Final 4 is really exciting. Hope they both make it. Wouldn't it be interesting if they both edged out the SEC!

Oh yeah, looks like Argus has another handle.

Noletroll,

the criminals are no longer in contention for any title outside of the most arrests for a college football team in 2015. They have a great shot at gaining that distinction, again.

Yeah right. Thanks for being such a great ambassador for the ACC ... not. This bogus post is nothing but provocation. It's well established that ND will be remaining indy in any foreseeable time frame.

duo this year your are finally correct. the ACC is a decent conference. I still think FSU is slightly over rated as they only have one offensive player I like and the defense isn't what it normally is.

but unlike FSU last year I feel that Clemson is a legit title contender

I'm not convinced on North Carolina...but they don't look bad....maybe be a second tier type of quality team (6th-12th ranking at the end of the year)...they just need to get that grade A win to convince me....and they may yet get their chance.

Duke, Miami and Pitt, are decent fringe top 25 teams but Ga Tech has been disappointing this year.

its better

still the bottom of the conf is too crowded with numerous teams that are to put it plainly not good at all.

so the conference as a whole is at best fourth among the top 5 (pac 10)...but that's better than they were last year

ND is a full time member of the ACC in all sports..............and a partial member in football.

ND plays all the schools in the ACC.............and in football............on a rotational basis.

In the present format in order to play for the Football NC, ND will most likely need to be undefeated vs. it's ACC opponents. The trend is improving every year for all those ACC opponents.

It only seems logical that eventually ND will join the ACC full time in football in addition to all of it's other sports and forge a new ACC Network that will enrich all of the member teams. At that point ND will begin to share in the proceeds produced by basketball as well as football. That combination will créate a mighty ACC Network with a huge following and significant bargaining powers.

Not IF.............WHEN. ;)
