Notre Dame and myself as a fan

I can remember it like it was yesterday. I am now 40. At the time, i was 8 years old on January 1, 1989 when Notre Dame defeatee West Virginia to win their most recent national title. I recall a house full of blue and yellow and then myself in blue and GOLD. I grew up and still live near the city of Charleston, major WVU territory. Notre Dame has for the most part been disappointing since then, always having let downs when it really mattered. It has been a long time coming that I can toss on my ND gear amd puff out the chest a little. Well i can now! Im not sure if Notre Dame has the jims and joes to beat Clemson for a second time, Ohio State, then Alabama or some combination of such. I am sure that Notre Dame is good again, and plays a big boy style football with a physicality ill put up against anyone. We have a chance this year and my money says nobody will just roll the Irish. Not even the mighty bama. Goooo Irish!

Michael Mayer

He is such an athletic TE. How did he ever get stopped in HS? He had the one bad play yesterday where he didn’t get the first down but he’s made that first man miss all season. Recent TEs like Alize Jones and Cole Kmet seemed to get taken down by that first defender. Mayer is very good at making him miss. He’s going to be one of the all time greats at ND as long as future QBs are able to utilize him.

Dabo responds to the possibility of Justyn Ross playing against Notre Dame

I have to admit that I did not like the fact that Dabo in his post VaTech press conference again stressed that Clemson did not have all their players in the first Notre Dame game. He again hinted about how banged up Clemson still was and how he hoped he had a healthy team in the rematch. I wish Dabo and Clemson would quit the whining.

But I did like his response when someone brought up that Chris Fowler said in the broadcast that Justin Ross might be back for the ND game:

”Maybe he knows something I don’t know. That’d be awesome... but I don’t think that’s the case. We’re just hoping that they’ll clear him to play football. But I don’t have any expectation that he would be able to play this year.

Football Column: Ian Book, Javon McKinley Have Become Each Other’s Difference-Makers

Tommy Rees of course should get his due, but as far as the on-field 11 goes, these two have meant a ton to each other. Dispatch from today:
