When I tune into pundits like Cowherd, I hear the refrain that ND is in the middle of nowhere and lacks a recruiting backyard.
Quietly, however, the talent level in Indiana HS football is improving and should inure to our benefit. This year, conceivably, we could meet needs for stud DL (Curry, Strickland, Kenneth Clark (6’4 DT from Merrillville)), dual threat QB (6’5” state champ winning Tayven Jackson), franchise left tackle (Goodwin), and dynamic slot (Omar Hunter), not to mention Tanona.
McGrone, Fisher, Rondale Moore, David Bell, McCulley, Werner, show there is an uptick in talent in our “backyard”. This is just a hypothesis, maybe recent years are anomalous though.
