2025 schedule idea

Notre Dame currently has only 11 games on the schedule, with the Stanford series not having been renewed yet. Perhaps it still will be, but if there are any snags in that, here's an idea:

Looks like Oregon State and Washington State are gonna need some opponents for 2025. Would love to see ND fill that 12th slot with Oregon State. They're a decent team with an outside shot at a playoff spot this year. Even better if they'd agree to play the game in California over Thanksgiving weekend as that would be missing with no Stanford.

Looks like 12-0 will be needed to get in CFP

11-1 maybe and 10-2 won’t do it. After watching FSU last night, where are the remaining quality wins? USC might be it assuming they are as good as they looked against LSU. What if Texas A&M wins just 7, 8 or even 9 games? It might come down to style points now. Not just winning but looking solid while taking care of business. I know it’s week one, but FSU looks terrible. What happened to DJU after he looked like a shoe in for a Heisnan after playing the Irish as a freshman? I hope USC has double digit wins when Notre Dame plays them. Also, I hope Louisville and Georgia Tech contend for the ACC title after Notre Dame takes care of business against them.

The TV “Rules Expert” stinks

I am so sick of hearing from that guy. He always seems to go against us. He applies the standards in ways that are obviously inconsistent.

1. If the call on the field goes against us, he talks about how the booth needs strong evidence to overturn it. And then proclaims there is no such evidence.

2. If the call on the field is for us, he rarely mentions the standard of booth review. He then assesses the play based on what he sees in the review.

I can’t stand hearing him talk. He is terrible at his job; he is not an expert in anything other than advocating against us.

I joined WSBT sports director Pete Byrne to share takeaways from Marcus Freeman's Monday press conference, the magnitude of ND's 23-13 win at Texas A&M, cleaning up pre-snap penalties, ND's offensive line play, the clear linebacker depth, Jordan Faison's ankle injury and the energy expected in Notre Dame Stadium for Saturday's game against Northern Illinois.

Inside ND Sports is partnering with WSBT to provide even more coverage of the Notre Dame football season. Byrne and I will record a video every Monday following a Freeman press conference.
