"You know it was a great game and in my opinion, the Notre Dame offensive line really controlled the second half. That’s two top five teams in college football and it just comes down to some small things. Great game played by both teams."

Recruiting programs vs. players?

When you watch Flores and Greathouse shine as true freshmen, it is obvious they were far better prepared to get on the field early due to the great programs they played for. How much time and effort does ND spend recruiting the coaches and players for perennial powerhouse programs. Far less chance of a bust in my opinion because they have already shown themselves against the best competition and are used to playing in more sophisticated systems.

Post Game Thoughts

So we all know the key plays, and at this point there isn’t much more to say about how it shook out. But I want to talk about what I saw from the position groups, and where we are as a program.

oline: Held up well in pass plays, and stayed tough with the run game. The interior held up well.
Running backs: This is a good group, with alot of talent, could be elite in the coming years.
Receivers: Young and talented, but not ready to threaten elite defenses. It was a shame last night we didn’t even have a Lenzy type we could send deep to keep them honest.

Dline: After pondering this, i thought they held up well. We will need to develop an elite pass rusher, in the coming years. But this group was tough at the point of attack all night

Linebackers: They have heart, but the upperclassmen are a little stiff, Bertrand out in coverage, is not ideal. Sneed and the younger guys need more and more snaps
Secondary: This group played at a high elite level all night imo. Let’s remember what they were up against. Wish Brown could have snagged that last ball, but this group is what have us a real chance imo. The 3rd and 19 I hold the coaches more accountable for calling the prevent D.

Conclusion: Big missed opportunity, and we have been here before. Consistent recruiting cycles with the transfer portal, could push us through in the coming years, but again we have seen this before, and we can’t have recruiting misses going forward. Freeman and the coaches let the guys down the final 4 min imo. Freeman has to rally the guys going forward

Notre Dame mens basketball has offered 2026 point guard Jonathan Sanderson. The Irish hosted Sanderson on an unofficial visit this past Saturday for the Ohio State football game.

The 6-foot-3 point guard is ranked as the No. 42 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class. He is a four-star recruit according to Rivals.

Sanderson attends Saline (Mich.) High, the same school that Notre Dame football 2024 four-star quarterback CJ Carr attends.

I don't understand why some experts pick Notre Dame to both lose and cover the spread.

I'm looking at the CBS predictions. All seven of their experts pick Notre Dame to cover the spread. But three of them pick Ohio State to win straight up. That means that they are predicting that Notre Dame will lose by one to three points.

I wonder what odds Vegas would give on that happening? Maybe 50 to 1?

All that strangeness aside, I like to see four out of seven CBS experts picking Notre Dame to win outright. And it would seem that the other three want to pick Notre Dame but can't quite bring themselves to do it. I can't think of any other reason why they would restrict their predictions to succeed in a range of just three points.

Football Five defining plays from Notre Dame's devastating loss to Ohio State

Well, let's get dark.

My five defining plays from Notre Dame's loss to Ohio State are all missed opportunities for the Irish.

1. Spencer Shrader’s 47-yard missed field goal
2. TreVeyon Henderson’s 61-yard touchdown run
3. Sam Hartman’s five-yard loss as Irish tried to run out clock
4. Emeka Egbuka’s third-down conversion of 21 yards
5. Chip Trayanum’s one-yard touchdown run
Unfortunately, there were others to choose from. What should have made the cut?

Inside ND Sports recently downgraded Beasley from Hot to Mild on The Heat Index. He has no visit to campus scheduled currently.

Notre Dame currently has two cornerback commits in its 2024 recruiting class, Karson Hobbs and Leonard Moore.

Since hosting Beasley, a four-star recruit out of Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Acadmey, for a visit in the spring, the Irish and cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens have been working to flip him from the Volunteers.

Knight has a relationship with Beasley from his stint earlier this year at Lipscomb Academy. Beasley also tagged Irish cornerback Benjamin Morrison in his post.
