USC and travelling

A couple of observations regarding USC's season
1) Maybe the excuse of them struggling because of travel lengths, sheds some light on the amount of travelling ND does with their schedule (or has done before) and perhaps there is more respect for that. Probably not, but would feel better if so.
2) They have lost by a combined 14 points. They are still going to be a very hard out at the end of the month.
3) maybe if they lose a couple more, a bunch of their players will opt out. Maybe less of as they won't get the redshirts but seems like something USC players would do. Bear Alexander already did it.

Football Podcast: Jerry Palm on Notre Dame's College Football Playoff outlook

CBS Sports College Football Playoff expert Jerry Palm discusses his observations of Notre Dame this season, if the perception of the programs on ND's schedule are hurting the Irish, how Texas A&M's success is helping ND, why he thinks ND is likely to lose again this season, if bias has been shown in previous playoff committee rankings, how high ND could be ranked if it finishes 11-1 and more.

Then @Eric Hansen and I answer questions from Twitter and The Insider Lounge (24:46).

Army QB Bryson Daily out for today's game vs. Air Force

Air Force isn't very good, so this shouldn't impact Army's undefeated record unless it doesn't have a capable backup. Army star QB Bryson Daily is sidelined with an undisclosed injury/illness.

Army has said it's not a season-ending issue, so he may be back in time for the Notre Dame game on Nov. 23.
