ND passing game

And Chase my balls F+ has ND rated 13th. This is why simply crunching numbers isn't as accurate as some believe it to be. How many times have we seen a team loaded up with all-stars and they fail to win championships. Look at the Dodgers in recent years. spending billions on the best players, but they can't win it.
Hey now....

Maybe we are 13th....

In the big scope of things who cares if we are 13th or 23rd.

Does it really matter if we are 13th or lower when clearly we aren't a team near the top 10, 8, and even 5.

Where's Golson5?

Delusional.
Have you every heard him actually speak intelligently about the actual game of football... Scheme, X's and O's, etc?

I sure haven't. Every good/great coach can walk you through what happened and why. They don't always need to do it, but they do. Freeman never does.

I now believe there's a reason for that. To not have a clue what happened after the NIU game. It wasn't a "coach speak" not having a clue, it's obviously he didn't have any idea of why ND played well and what adjustments they should have made.

It's a sad day when our QB play has me thinking of Ian Book...

I agree. That was my way of saying “don’t panic” because he had one bad game in which he was still an asset.

People crap the bed (not you) from week to week based on results. It’s comical as well as irritating. Freeman is the greatest thing after A&M then he’s not the guy after NIU and he sucks. Which is it? One game shouldn’t have swayed people so much. If one believed he was the man after a close A&M win, then that person should have believed he was the man after a close loss to A&M. Same with losing to NIU.

Leonard could have had the A&M game, and thrown for 400 yards against NIU, but if he played against Purdue like he did against NIU, people would be all over him saying he’s not the guy. It’s one game.

My humble opinion is people need to chill the hell out (not directed at you). Fans are too nuts and high and low. It’s funny how I can get mocked for pointing out flaws with Freeman. Next thing he loses a game, and everyone is mocking the whole program and I’m the one saying to just chill.
Definitely the latter!

Another year...same old, same old ineffective QB

Maybe I can’t comprehend and I’m ignorant

Did you ever consider that maybe coaches call more efficient plays then throwing long, plays that have a higher chance of success.

Did it ever occur to you that he’s starting because he performed better in practice than the other QB’s ?

If you think that NIL is swaying coaching decisions, you know absolutely nothing about football,
I agree with you, however when the defense is showing you coverage defending the run and short to intermediate pass defense. You need to be able take shots downfield.

It's been said and I'll say it again the 2nd and 1 play call was absolutely HORRIBLE

Too many variables. To the point you need a lot of computing power and increasing time. Our brains are evolved for energy efficient decisioning of complexity...never mind what you get on the house to breathe, feel, balance, and see, which involves so many factors to process in real time, we're not even aware of it.

A massive advantage in human cognition is:

1) You don't need the BEST decision.
2) Just avoid a BAD decision.

AI generates howlers in this context. Even in something like self driving cars. I had the advanced version of the software in my Tesla as a 1 month trial. I had to correct a few times...and it demands more attention that when I drive.

I hope they give what you said a test. But I bet a human will override a howler call.
Right, exactly, because computers don't care about winning. They don't care about anything. They're not alive, they have no sense of self-preservation. An algorithm with a utility function or whatnot is not the same thing as living, breathing human being fighting for his survival, with all his mental/emotional faculties at his disposal. And everyone's already familiar with Chat GPT's 'hallucinations'.

But who knows, maybe computers will one day be able to account for all of that, and there's an algorithmic fix for every last possible contingency.

It's been said and I'll say it again the 2nd and 1 play call was absolutely HORRIBLE

No it wasn't a mistake at all. The call was fine, the read by Riley was terrible and the throw to Mitchell was even worse. You expect your experienced QB not to make that kind of mistake. Mitchell was open and Collins was also open. Calling it a horrible call is just Monday morning quarterbacking, because the execution was atrocious
