I rate Penn State higher than ND on a better schedule and losing to Ohio State rather than NIU.

But I now think it's 50:50 between the Irish and Nittany Lions in a playoff game.

Only the top 4 I mentioned give me some pause...but I am hoping ND shows upside obfuscated by this schedule.
Agree. There’s something about playing a soft schedule, losing at home to crappy Northern Illinois, and then saying a top 4 ranking is deserved that does not add up correctly.

BTW: USC is leading UCLA. Neither team is impressive overall. But as I said earlier, USC can be explosive and has some talent...and can be dangerous.

I still feel ND should be able to manage a win next week. 75%. Have to avoid a letdown, no silly mistakes. I hope Denbrock calls the right game vs a weak USC D.

I'm confident Irish defense can handle the volatile USC O...that struggles in the red zone.

Given the fact that both teams have played soft schedules, losing to Northern Illinois is why I would vote Notre Dame slightly behind 10-1 Penn State.

I agree there is no clearly dominant team. But in my view the top 4 seem to be elite vs others aspiring.

Obviously I',m rooting for the Irish...but I gotta be honest: given the schedule and loss to NIU, we can't tell if ND is elite.

The playoffs will determine that. And, if enough stronger SEC teams fail to make it, my hopes rise even more.
Well stated.

To some posters, anything and everything about Notre Dame is elite.

And I agree, we won’t know anything until this team plays a legitimate top 5 team:

Playing Purdue, Army, Miami Ohio and Navy helps.

Well, obviously you can only play the schedule you have. ND didn't set out to make it weaker. And ND has recovered from the loss to NIU, steadily improving.

ND absolutely warrants a high ranking and a playoff at this time. 1 more game to go to ice things.

As always, all of us ultimately use our eye test. Mine sees a very different ND right now. As I posted earlier...we will find out how good ND really can be.

The loss to NIU and weak schedule make this an open question. Hence the playoffs...starting with USC, which is a de facto playoff game.

Everything you write is everyone else sucks but Notre Dame doesn’t. Bad loss by Notre Dame? Ignored. When someone else loses? It’s national news.

It gets old.
When did I say Texas sucked?

That's called deflecting when you make something up I said to avoid the issue

I'm going to call you out on it too. Weak attempt.

Don't deflect. Tell me what Texas has done comparative to ND
