Maybe I'm too cynical, but I don't trust Saban on this. Remember Auburn and Cam Newton? I don't think it's any different at Alabama. The SEC did this at scale, produced academically empty degrees, paid big money, and ensured athletes could forgo academics and student life.
Again, I'll always believe they went after USC, who did it better than they could. Pete Carroll's the SEC killer. Reggie Bush can't have rims, but Newton and Auburn can be exonerated?
The bandaid has been ripped off. Like I said, the blue bloods now can openly bid and pay for players. Good luck to many SEC teams trying to outbid USC, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas, TAMU, even Notre Dame, schools with richer alumni. Alabama, Georgia, and Florida will hang, having money, not sure about the rest.
