First of all Angeli is not Pyne or Buchner (2022) -Tyler never threw over 60%, Pyne not much better..

Angeli has completed 72.2% of his passes. Excelled in his one start and got a convincing win in a bowl game. 10 TDs with 1 INT... CJ Carr has gotten rave reviews from all writers who watched him in spring and summer ball. I do hope one of Kenny and Steve sticks if CJ gets the nod. I think we'll be fine at QB.
It would be a huge strategic mistake to not have an open competition among the existing players on the team for next year. Evers made a million in NIL in high school. He’s had enough. Not the right guy for us

Cam Ward opts out of the 2nd half

You can't do that. That's not the nature of the contract. They're not pay for play contracts, they're advertising contracts. And while seemingly a contract might include any terms you might think of and agree to, apparently it's considered a very bad idea, by collectives and their lawyers, to include anything in the contracts that is in anyway tied to football performance, like promising to play in bowl games, because that would fall afoul of NIL rules in a way that the players/collectives wouldn't like. And so they can't be financially penalized, because such actions are not included in the purview of these contracts.

But I'm not certain of that.
Well the advertising company could do that then so they could advertise them in the bowl game correct?

GT vs Vanderbilt

Well, the SEC, after the humiliation of OU losing to Navy, is saving some face with Vandy putting a bit of a beatdown on GTech. Vandy is legitimately good, they really were a good team even though they only ended up 6-6 including their big Bama upset. So this is sweet redemption for the SEC.
I am happy for Clark Lea, a seemingly good man who deserves the best.

Oklahoma vs Navy

You don't even pretend to care, you're just sort of a thug. Friedrich Nietchze, pardon the misspelling, called that the 'master morality'. No pretense, no even attempt to meet anything, on anything other than your terms. And all we get is either the most strangled, self-serving logic, however simplistic or obviously stupid. Or just total defiance. God bless this country, eh?
My theology professor at Notre Dame used to read us your Nietchze in class and say “That’s good stuff.”

Or a financial penalty for opting out.

This from Tom Loy who is a guy I trust: "Despite the chatter everywhere, because that’s how rumors work, as of this morning Notre Dame maintains that they are not hitting the portal for a quarterback ahead of next season. They love their Quarterback room. Now I’m not confident they all stick around ahead of next season, but the guys that are in that room right now make up a group that they are fired up about. "

On CJ's elbow: "From everyone I’ve talked to on both sides, there aren’t concerns with Carr’s health. Just being over precautious."

A good Read On College Football and money, NIL and the Portal

I'm pretty sure in the era before NIL and transfer portal, G5 schools still struggled like they do today. Who is regarding those schools w/ disdain and contempt?
That's what I just said. This article made it seem like these G5 programs are under particular existential threat, on account of the advent of NIL and the portal, when they are not, and nothing has changed for them. And the fact that New Mexico's star QB has transferred to Utah, to take financial and career advantage of his rising fortunes, does not doom New Mexico football in any way such that they should feel entitled, in any way, to lament it or seek to prevent it. If Devon Dampier wants to transfer to Utah to get paid and play in the P4, then that's what he's going to do. And New Mexico's just going to have to live with it. And every G5 program is going to have to accept it.

And this article is merely trying to create sympathy where none previously existed. Not because fans give a shit about G5 programs, which they don't, but because they don't like NIL and the portal messing with their favorite P4 programs, the teams people actually care about.

If a player from a small school is good he will get poached. And no year to sit out. You can now build a bear your team. Kentucky in basketball has an entirely new team after losing their coach.
I don't like the transfer portal being what it is today. And yeah it's disappointing to see a coaching staff identify a 2 star kid recruit him and turn him into a 4 star type player only to see him transfer for his last 2 years of eligibility. However, as the article stated the transfer portal works both ways. You see your players leave, but you can also get the 4 and even 5 star recruits that are not playing at the P5 school to come to your program. Again, do I like seeing this? No. But my point is I don't think the transfer portal has that much of an impact on the performance of schools today. ND loses kids every year. Who here says ND lost to NIU because of transfer portal? LSU is 8-4 because of transfer portal?
