Lets talk PSU

Do not misunderstand me. I am not saying that as an excuse. I am simply pointing out that they played a very physical and emotional game last night. One week from now it will be a similar setting. It is difficult to do that two weeks in a row knowing there is so much on the line. If the Game were 10 days out or more I think mental and physical recovery would be fine. I am hoping they can play as tough as they did yesterday. That’s all I am saying
No argument there. That's what makes the playoffs so great! Separating the boys from men! They have a whole week to recover, which is the standard and keeps them in their regular routine, which i think is actually more important than rest. I'm confident they will show up and smack PSU in the mouth.

Lets talk PSU

keytron is not like Love IMO. Keytron does have great vision, balance, runs hard and doesn't go down easy, but lacks top quickness or speed. He's more like ettiene we just went against.

Singleton has the home run speed, but goes down very easy. Singleton is similar to price IMO, love is a unicorn.

PSU Dline is undersized but shoots gaps hard, and their lbs fly downhill like ours. They secondary is not as strong in pass coverage, and can be had against in the air. We have more talented depth at LB than PSU but psu lbs are better in coverage.

We will have the ability to move the dline more so than we did with Georgia, but psu dline will be better at exploiting spindler/coogan and the fact they aren't very nimble on their feet.

I think ND just needs to run leonard earlier. Hopefully our pass game is improved.

Stopping penn state, i'm confident we'll slow their run game down, it will be our lbs/safeties covering their rbs and TEs.
Price leads the country in yards after contact I believe?

Riley Leonard or Ian Book

Well, sorry then. My sincere apologies. Pretty much everyone on this board harbors at least some not inconsiderable antipathy for BK, and usually anything or any player or success achieved, or anything even coterminous with his time at ND by association. And most to many display actively virulent hostility for him. And so I must have confused you with someone else.

RL has been cash money this season for ND, totally delivered as expected, including the lousy passing, which hasn't held us back thus far, and gave a chance for Denbrock to flex his OC chops and scheme very effectively around him. But he doesn't compare to Ian Book as a ND QB, on the merits. If we win the next two games then maybe we can revisit it.

There you go, I answered your question.
It's not an apology I needed, but thanks. No harm done. I just wanted to you to see that it's these kind of posts that make it very difficult for anyone to take you seriously. It would appear you have a tendency to react instead of respond. If I may make a suggestion... read more, post less.

Where are the five stars

This team is hanging on by a thread at DL. Is KVA coming back? Any assistance on the edge will be helpful down the stretch.

Onye quitting the team possibly?. Bothelo coming back thankfully. Should be ok with frontline guys Logan Thomas Bryce young maybe the freshman DT can contribute next season I think he EE.

Clemson won their titles because of a dominant DL and a QB and lots of average players with a couple playmaking receivers.

My point was that a dominant D line is really all this team needs.
Lack of depth on the interior was always a concern, edges have been solid. Junior T, Oben, Burnham, Bryce Young have done a great job. Down to Cross, Hinish and Rubio on the inside. Did any other players get snaps at DT?

Announcers

Just rewatching this, it really was worse than I remembered.

The sideline interference was “do they really need to call that”.

The first PI was “He had his hand on the shoulder pad that’s PI”

Then on the face mask “you can call that, you don’t have to but you can”

The PI on GA on that same drive. 2nd and 7 with the defender holding the ND guys arm was “that just aggressive coverage”.

What a bunch of tools
Sad but true !

Can we talk about the effin refs?

Here is the rule.

Is face guarding illegal in college football?

Morelli is incorrect about at least one thing: Face-guarding (i.e., a defender facing the player he is covering, rather than looking at the ball) is not illegal at the NCAA level. Rather, college football has the same penalty threshold as the pros — face-guarding is legal, as long as there is no contact.
that’s not true.

When a defender has his back to the ball, and he’s playing the receiver, with or without his arm/s out stretched without touching the receiver, he’s guilty of pass interference

The rule is specific about that particular situation.

Where are the five stars

I felt that the D-LINE -- almost counter-intutively -- played BETTER than it had in a number of games Mills played in.

Its quickness and mobility NEUTRALIZED Georgia's O-Line's ALLEGED RAW POWER -- much of which DID NOT APPEAR to show up.

I think Golden's scheme was SUPERB, and the D-LINE simply went out and executed. So much so that I had to wonder WHERE WAS THIS KIND OF EDGE PRESSURE ALL SEASON? For it to show up in THIS GAME was remarkable.
Supposedly Georgia’s offensive line out weighed Notre Dame‘s defensive line by about 50 pounds per man.

I thought the defensive line played very well, and I agree with you they seem to have played better against Georgia than they have against most other teams

Let’s hope the trend continues next week ……… and the week after

Where are the five stars

Here we go again so the disparity in talent between the SEC and every one else is because they win championships , of course the NIL has a lot to do with it or maybe coaching and development over a four year period beats portal princess`s. ND was out weighted on the defensive line by over 30 lbs , but dominated. ND had twice the amount of penalty yards especially that BS illegal motion call
: therefore, zero argument from anyone. Gunner did not play a bad game even though he was constantly running for his life from our defensive ends .
Where are the five stars in the portal ND could use DT`s weighing in at 325 LBS basically space eaters.

Does This Short Week Hurt the Irish?

I believe it will be something to keep an eye on. Hopefully Cross and Love in particular, their injuries aren't bad and they can heal up for the game.

I'm just as worried about a "hangover" after this game with UGA. We put our heart and soul into this one as it was a big one for the season and this program. We've all seen those next game hangovers from teams (aka NIU!!!!). But, this coaching staff is a different beast compared to prior staff's that ND went through. They'll have to boys ready to go.
This is the ULTIMATE TEST of a good team -- having to play TOUGHER COMPETITION EACH WEEK and having to get up for it.

Is ND the kind of playoff team that can SOLDIER ON or, at some point, does it SIMPLY REACH ITS LIMIT?

This is RAW COMPETITION at its best.

How is it possible

That Notre Dame controlled the entire game against Georgia when Chaseball stated that Georgia had a huge talent advantage, a huge gap in talent over Notre Dame ?

How could Notre Dame have won that game by a score of 23 to 10, and that was with Georgia getting more than a little help from the refs

Chaseball, how did the team with a huge talent gap beat a team with a huge talent advantage ?

FAIR QUESTION.

Can we talk about the effin refs?

The issue with Faison's call was that the TE was not set long enough (remember, he had just shifted prior to Faison) before Faison took off to go in motion.
He doesn't have to be set "long enough" as Faison was not in motion until he was set... that is the key. The must be set for 1 second only applies when two or more players are in motion at the same time. The "rules expert" also confirmed this during replay.

Again, it was a different game back then, They were primarily an option team, and they played a brutal schedule compared to what ND plays today.
Definitely is but nothing he did can you say he was a better passer or more accurate. They did play 6 teams that were unranked in 1989 and he had 2 tds and 9 ints that year. Not every game was difficult and the ones that weren't ranked he didn't show much in the pass game

I dont want to disparage Tony Rice. He's an absolute legend and ND great. I dont even like this debate
