Oregon, Georgia, Penn State, and Texas would have been the committee’s choices IMO, in that order.OSU definitely wouldn’t have been in, and PSU most likely out too.
I’m curious what others think but it seems like it would’ve been Texas vs Oregon and ND vs. UGA. In that scenario, I think ND plays Oregon for the NC.

I’ve heard a lot of people in the past argue there aren’t even 4 teams good enough to play for a NC let alone 8-12.
If Las Vegas chooses the teams, Ohio State would have been the 1 seed before the playoff started despite losing at home to Michigan in game 12, according to Dan Patrick from Fox radio.
I listened to Dan Patrick on the radio on Friday talk at length why Las Vegas should be selecting and seeding the 12 playoff teams. He made some good points.
