Had this year been a 4 team playoff

OSU definitely wouldn’t have been in, and PSU most likely out too.

I’m curious what others think but it seems like it would’ve been Texas vs Oregon and ND vs. UGA. In that scenario, I think ND plays Oregon for the NC.

to the small percentage of detractors of the I think you point to the fact OSU (probably the best team) wouldn’t have been in had the playoffs not been expanded.

I’ve heard a lot of people in the past argue there aren’t even 4 teams good enough to play for a NC let alone 8-12.
Oregon, Georgia, Penn State, and Texas would have been the committee’s choices IMO, in that order.

If Las Vegas chooses the teams, Ohio State would have been the 1 seed before the playoff started despite losing at home to Michigan in game 12, according to Dan Patrick from Fox radio.

I listened to Dan Patrick on the radio on Friday talk at length why Las Vegas should be selecting and seeding the 12 playoff teams. He made some good points.

No… we had to blitz lbs more than we did all season

The dline played very gap sound, but did not win many battles other than against their LT.

I’m not trying to discredit the line, they played hard and better than I thought they would. But we blitzed almost every play. Many times bringing 2. Now, insane credit on being gap sound and not letting them bust runs. Georgia was vey gap sound against us other than qb runs, nd stopped Stockton running. Georgia interior was pushing back our ol, we were not doing ther to Georgia. Cross didn’t register a tackle.
Send your resume in. Another arm chair coach that thinks he knows what he's talking about. 🙄 what a tool.

Kirby Smart complaining

Georgia effectively had the last 11 minutes of the game to score twice and they came away empty handed. . We stopped them on fourth down, but it was negated due to Kizer's interference call. So we did it again like it was no big deal. Then our offense bled 7-plus minutes from the clock to close out the game, which was a thing of beauty.
That’s true. Well stated.

That said, one could argue the Georgia defense played just as well as the Notre Dame defense over 60:00.

Does This Short Week Hurt the Irish?

You’d have to be in total denial to think that having fewer days isn’t going to have a negative impact in terms of creating a game plan and in terms of physical recovery from the Georgia game.

Let’s ask the question another way, would you rather have seven days to prepare or eight days to prepareafter playing Georgia,

Especially whenYou have to travel back to South Bend, and then travel to Miami prior to next Thursday’s game

How can you not want an extra day?
We would all prefer you to make even semi intelligent rational posts also but that ain't happening either...

Freeman shatters BK glass ceiling

You're just a BK hater, and all your opinions and 'takes' on this subject are toilet paper. If you ever wanted to be taken seriously, you shouldn't have been shitting all over the guy like a maniac all those years, without which MF wouldn't even be at ND, taking over the top ten, annual playoff contending program he did that BK left for him when he was whisked off to the SEC. You're a hater, and your opinions on this subject are nothing. And that's the price you pay. You lost your credibility.
You are just a guy who has lost the debate, so you have to resort to a childish temper tantrum. Two things can be true at the same time, I agree that Brian Kelly restored ND to a Top 5-10 program, I agree he did bring Marcus Freeman to ND and handed him a program in good shape, So you can stop making lazy straw man arguments.

There are levels to this thing, and anyone with a shred of common sense or intellectual honesty knows Brian Kelly flamed out badly in the post season. I broke down each of the 4 games for you and the results, Which you of course ignored, because it demolished your entire argument, Which was frankly very, very easy to do.

There are 4 levels of team performance above what Brian Kelly did at ND, and Marcus Freeman has already moved ND past 2 of the levels
Get to the post season and look like you belong. CHECK
Get to the post season and win games CHECK
Get ot the post season and win a National Championship TBD
Win multiple National Championships TBD

Again, the only reason I brought up Kelly's name was to illustrate how Marcus Freeman has moved the program past anything BK ever did at ND. If you feel the need to defend Kelly, go to the LSU fan sites and defend him. Because he is being attacked relentlessly by pissed off LSU fans

Other than one run, 34 yards in 28 attempts, and you don’t think the defensive line played lights out

Every year is different. This year there is no 2001 Miami, 1999 Florida State, 2019 LSU, 2020 Bama, 2022 Georgia, etc. There may have been only one other team in the whole country that could challenge them and I think a playoff would have been pointless in those years. But this year, no one is particularly dominant. There are no undefeated teams. All the conference champs lost in the quarterfinals. This is a great year to have the playoffs.

However, I understand the argument that 12 teams is too many and maybe even 4 is too many some years. A lot of playoff games have been lopsided, which is not fun to watch. The frustration is you can't just change the playoff format based on who you think are legit contenders.

ND payout

Wah wah wah
bottom line there is no good reason.
people talking about a super conference do not understand it cannot happen. Too many teams.
I disagree here, they will have two 32-34 team conferences like the AFC/NFC at some point in the not so distant future.

I have listened to coaches like Saban and Meyer talk about this for a decade and they’ve been very accurate on where it was going, so I tend to think they’ll be right on this as well.

Don’t be shocked if Saban is the head of the entire thing within a few years from now.

LOL come on you are going to use Boise and AZ state as proof....dumb

I said it was an advantage for ND. I dint care about other teams. We need the rest. We are a beat up team
LOL, come on you are going to ignore what happened to Oregon and Georgia as proof? Dumb

And I noticed you ignored what I posted about Freeman's comments. Once again, it's the preparation that gives you the advantage.

Just like seeding, if you worry about not having as much rest as the other team. You got bigger problems.
