Where Does the 2025 Orange Bowl Rank Among Notre Dame’s Greatest?

In my lifetime, it ranks behind the 1973 Sugar Bowl and 1988 Miami. To me this is top 5 since Parseghian roamed the sidelines especially if Notre Dame goes on to win the championship. Perhaps it’s recency bias on my part… i was at the game. The team never quit . Penn State was running all over Notre Dame’s defense. Yet, they kept battling and hanging in there. What an experience for me. The atmosphere was incredible. The fans on both sides were LOUD. I saw the ND players on the sideline rooting for their teammates on the field the entire game. I saw Coach Freeman giving the referees hell after the PI call on Shuler.

PSU QB is the best ND has faced. He is the real deal.

I really enjoyed his pick 7 this season. Thank you, Drew

He was lucky to have a couple other picks reversed tonight.

There’s no way this guy was the top QB we faced this year. He blew the game for Penn State.
The guy had a very good season and is a very good QB. The ND defense stopped him and made him look bad. The kid is good.

Football Unflinching Notre Dame recovers to beat Penn State for another CFP win

Notre Dame trailed by 10 points for the first time this season and didn't have a lot of reasons to be hopeful. But some offensive line fill-ins, Steve Angeli's poise and an offensive revival when Riley Leonard returned led the Irish to hard-earned victory over Penn State.

I enjoyed this article

Especially the second half of it where it talks bout Freeman and ND glowingly and shits on Franklin a bit. He’s a smug, unlikeable, self righteous POS. Now I see how others felt about BK. He’s just a different version of that douches a really good coach who does a lot of things right but pisses down his leg or always finds a way to come up short in the big one

Refs suck

I thought the referees last night were especially atrocious. Good grief! Penn State was getting away with multiple offensive holdings. The two pass interference calls were close, but a little suspect to me. It also seemed like every ball spot for us would be marked the half yard to a full yard short of where we actually should’ve been.

I hope this won’t be the crew for the championship game

Best Notre Dame team in the F+ era (since 2007)

I've been evaluating the football program with the F+ system since the early 2010s. This is the best Notre Dame team on record.

MF F+ by season:
2022: 22nd
2023: 8th
2024: 5th

Extend Marcus Freeman now!

NDs talent rank is 9th, but their F+ rank is 5th in the country. Amazing! FPI is even more bullish on the Irish and has them ranked 3rd in the country. Considering all the injuries to the players on the first team (including their best player/pro prospect coming into the season: BenMo) its just been a remarkable coaching job all around.

Any top tier recruit not considering ND at this point is a fool. MF and his coaching staff will develop you as good/if not better than anybody else in the country ESPECIALLY on defense!

Top 5
1. OSU, 2.39
2. Texas, 2.01
3. Oregon, 1.97
4. Ole Miss, 1.96
5. Notre Dame, 1.86

And yet last night you posted in the game thread that ND didn’t have the talent at the skill positions of the upper-level BIG or SEC teams.

Of course, you posted that when the score was 10-0 PSU.

My, my, my, didn’t you look like a horse’s ass?

Again…..
