Game Ball goes to...

It’s gotta be Greathouse. Watching his high school tape, I thought he was a tad slow but a marvellous route runner. I still don’t think he’s a burner, but he’s plenty fast and before the game, I figured he would get lots of one on one chances with attention focused on Faison and our backs.

Their defence did not respect our receiving core and it made them pay. Greathouse looks like a guy who could go for 100 a game if we had Angeli starting. I still don’t think he’s a Jeremiah Smith, but I would pray for any nickel thinking they can cover him out of the slot. Between our two tight ends and Fasion, Greathouse, we are developing some legit threats at receiver. It would be nice for one wideout to show out in the title… Colzie, Thomas, Harrison…

Also shoutout to Christian Gray. Dude was lockdown all year outside of the USC, IU and UGA game. Dude also never put his head down, keeps battling and always makes a play when we need it. Kids a damn good cornerback.

Refs suck

Terrible refs tonight. Those were not PI's. Then they totally miss the holding on PSU.
Which one? I thought they got away with countless holdings. They missed holding on both sides.

I would love if I never had to watch this officiating crew again.

Also, what about them adding 6 seconds to the clock to end the game? Embarrassing performance all around.

Does This Short Week Hurt the Irish?

Yeah that didn't age well.

It was the first half for crying out loud and ND ended the half only being down by 7. They weren't gassed. They were mentally lost and confused. Freeman talks all the time about how clarity equals velocity. Once ND got that clarity, ND started playing better and got the win.

This so called 2 day rest advantage didn't work out for for PSU, now did it?

Some here questioned ND's ability to win due to a physically/emotionally draining win over UGA, while PSU had 2 easy wins. While sustaining success is hard. What you did last week doesn't affect what you do the following week. It is staying in a routine and the preparation in the next week that matters.

As I posted earlier how many times have we seen posters complain about ND opponents having a bye week before playing ND and that being a disadvantage? Only to see that ND wins the majority of the time.
Oh they didn't have it. There's no question about it. That was the worst half they played since the NIU game. Looked slower and less physical than anytime all year.

But the heart and guts and coaching pushed us through.

Yes it worked out for them. The game would have a more definitive win for ND if we were fresh early.

Refs suck

Not sure how they missed such an egregious hold. I believe the call on Gray was holding early in the route which he did. Shuler clearly committed what used to be called "face guarding" . Gotta turn your head. The rule is pretty clear.
I know the rule changed that made face guarding legal. I looked all over last night and everything I read stated it is legal. Yes, he held early in route but it had zero effect on the play. That penalty could be thrown almost every play.

Angeli huge drive

Yes, in the big picture, it was the spark we needed, but I didn't feel that way at the time. Pretty much up to that point, PSU was whipping us physically on both sides of the line and were showing a lot more creativity on both sides of the ball. I figured we might be able to tie the game to start the second half, but I really thought the team looked like it was running on vapors and was going to simply run out of gas in the fourth quarter.
