LolYes industry vetted. He's a composite #60ish overall player ( multiple very large scouting organizations have scouted him and have him ranked as a high 4-star prospect on aggregate.) That's a lot of eye balls and a lot of expensive brands/reputations who vetted this prospect.
These recruiting ranking sites, when it comes to their scouting/grading of prospects hire a lot of ex industry insiders (scouts, front office/operations office talent evaluators, ex players and coaches, etc.) the nerds are building the databases and websites, but there's a lot of football people/players/insiders doing the grading of the talent.
Also, the Knapp situation is an outlier. If we broaden the sample size a bit, and looked at all Freshman 3 star players ranked around where Knapp was, he might be on a list of like 5 of the best diamond in the ruff freshman seasons ever.
These are super rare gifts from touchdown jesus himself. Players who did what Knapp & Moore (low 4 star) did this season. The other 70% of 3 star players recruited (and probably more than half of the low 4 star players recruited) don't ever take a meaningful snap at this level.

You mean like Freshman All-American Anthonie Knapp? A low three star (#62 OL) who you probably said we should not have recruited.
Glad to have Merrill. But I will trust our coaches (who recruited 3*s Knapp, Moore) and not the 'industry' (a bunch of guys who never played the game, pecking away on their computers.)
The ruling was based on it being discriminatory. If the NCAA removes the discriminatory policy and includes all sports in the transfer rule, then it's a new case. How SCOTUS ruled previously is moot.Costs money to lose in court. It'll never happen.
The court ruled 9-0 . What new argument could the NCAA possibly make to swing a 5 judge shift ? The horse is dead.
Costs money to lose in court. It'll never happen. The NCAA is the ruling body for college athletics?
They set the rules and guidelines
I’m not so sure that reinstating the restriction on transfers and extending it to all sports would lose in court.
And I would ask, what’s the downside to reinstating the restriction on transfers and extending it to all sports.
If they lose in court, they’re no worse off than they are today
And if they win, it saves college football and basketball, the two primary drivers of revenue for all other sports.
It returns a high degree of stability to both primary and secondary sports.
I didn’t see the movement you’d want in Mukam with his limited reps… I fear Dixon will be our first good interior dline recruit Washington has landed out of hs. Meaning portal again next yearWould love to see Onye return and contribute day one. Read lots of positives about Mukam’s development this past Fall, and he would be my pick for earning some meaningful snaps. Really big Spring/summer for Young to add good weight and strength, as he got pushed around a lot in the NC game. And yes, we desperately need one of Traore or Botelho to be fully recovered and picking up where they left off…maybe asking too much for this to start the season.
Hinish can’t be the starterI like your line up. Except Hinish.
I love the kids effort etc.
But we need a big Riley Mills / Jerry tillery etc type guy there. And a couple of those Louis Nix type guys for NT girth and hat on hat type stuff.
Jmo.
Guy has a lot of heart. Loved his pregame speeches to the o line. Will be missed for sure.Heckuva of a player. Wish he was coming back. But I get his decision.
He's the kind of guy who finds his way onto the field.
They won't because they know they would lose once again in court. That ship has sailed....a long time ago. They have no authority to institute such a rule anymore.
I like sevillano myself. Wish he was more of a factor this season.I think the best way to utilize the guys at the DT position is to have Rubio and Sevillano (forgot to mention him previous post) play together on 1st down and short yardage situations, as they'll probably be the two best against the run. Then you gotta figure out who's the best against the pass. Dawson will almost certainly be in on obvious passing downs and then we need someone from Hinish, Onye (another guy I forgot to mention) Hughes, Mukam, Vernnon or maybe even Young shifts inside to give us an adequate passing rush. Mills and Cross played way too much as season went on and I'm hoping to see a solid 4-5 man rotation at the DT position.
