Biggest CFB disappointments/surprises thus far

Curious what everyone thinks on this topic.

Disappointments:

You’d have to start with FSU right, preseason top 10 (1-7). Okie St (3-5), Kansas (2-6) though I never bought their top 25 ranking to start the season. Probably throw in USC for sure, and Michigan.

Surprises:

I’ll start with Indiana, schedule is weak but what a turn around year one. Also, both Army and Navy, no one had them both with a chance to win 11 or more regular season games, and they’ve been dominant doing it (minus today for Navy). I’ll throw BYU in there too as many had them in the bottom half of the B12 rankings preseason.

Week 9 playoff picks

First how I think the rankings would look..

1. Oregon 2. UGA 3. Miami 4. ISU 5. PSU 6. Texas 7. OSU 8. UT 9. IU 10. ND 11. BYU 12. BSU

How I project the final ranking (probably will be way off)

1. UGA 2. OSU 3. Clemson 4. KSU 5. Oregon 6. A&M 7. PSU 8. ND 9. IU 10. Bama 11. Miami 12 BSU

The SEC really does feast on each other this season, most of the best 4-6 teams face several of the conferences top opponents.

The B1G conversely does not. OSU played/plays Oregon, PSU, IU, but IU only faces OSU, while avoiding PSU/Oregon, PSU faces only OSU, while avoiding IU/Oregon, the B1G could very possibly have four teams with 11-1/12-0 records going into the B1G conference championship game.

In the ACC, Clemson and Miami don’t matchup in the regular season though I expect them to meet in the conference championship game. Clemson has UL at home and @ Pitt. Miami would literally blow it to not finish 12-0. The sleeper could be Pitt if they can find a way to beat SMU, Clemson, and UL.

The big 12 is horrible too. KSU has just one ranked team on their schedule (ISU), while ISU only has (KSU) on theirs. BYU won’t face a ranked team the rest of the way until the conference championship game. The Big12 could have three teams with one loss after the conference championship game too.

ND vs Navy Game Thread

I will give credit to the announcers for ripping the officials and calling out the lame roughing the QB penalty. Nice.

I watched the game on delay. I couldn't believe that call as well...and also 100% agree with the announcers.

If that is consistently called like that, well, then you really can never tackle a QB.

Football has a growing rules and officiating problem.

LSU#10 vs TAMU#15 discussion

Are you sure, I said this exact thing after the game. I’ll be pissed but not shocked if A&M jumps ND.

Did you see my post about the AP voters last week that already had ND at #21/22, and A&M as high as #12? There is a faction that just hates ND.
Agreed. For sure can happen. They do hate us

I think TAM right behind us and LSU behind them. And would argue scoring +50 over Purdue, Stan, and Navy…plus beat 2 ranked teams… plus beating Chuck by 4 TDs should be enough.

Where are all the Riley critics?

I think Riley is a gamer, and is better in the pocket than he was just 3-4 weeks ago. He’s finally hitting some downfield balls which is a big improvement. My concern is how badly he still misses at times, he had a few throws today that you just say “wow, what was he doing there?”

What covers up some of those flaws is his ability to run from the pocket or break out of what appears to be a sack and extend the plays in a positive way.

LSU#10 vs TAMU#15 discussion

Win at USC first.

Great win for TAM. Brian Kelly and LSU had a second half that was very forgettable.
“ Brian Kelly and LSU had a second half that was very forgettable.”. lol. Captain Obvious.

Outscored 31-6. Gave up a 10 pt half time lead. Goes punt-Int- fumble-int to start second half. TAM doing well for the 7th or 8th best team in SEC
