Maybe so, but that was so-called 'targeting' just the same. Indubitably. Full speed, totally uninhibited all out shot to the head and neck area of Sage Ryan. The dude's head completely, visibly snapped back from both the force and location of the blow, as well as the 'defenseless' nature of it. If you were teaching young referees about the call, and showing them various perfect examples of it in various situations, that would have been on the little instructional video.
True on what the definition of targeting is right now. My bitch is the throwing the player out of the game and then making him sit for the following half. Complete and utter BS, they need to fix that

Where are all the Riley critics?

I will say again what I said before. RL missing spring practice with the ankle injury and then being limited in summer practice was a big thing. He's coming over to a new team, with a new system and coaches, and new WRs. Those spring and summer practices were important, but he didn't get them. He is just now starting to round into form. He still isn't a great passer, and I am not sure he ever will be, but he shows improvement every week, and his elite running skills make him a really tough guy to defend. He is a big kid and is able to pick up yards that other running QBs wouldn't. And his leadership skills and game "mojo" are plainly evident. Patience is often in short supply with Irish football fans, but just keep the faith, fellas. Our defense will keep us in the game every week, and while the offense is still a work in progress, the needle is moving in the right direction.

BS call, the targeting rule in college football is a fricking joke. Give him a 15yd penalty and move on. This throwing the player out of the game and then sitting out another half is stupid.

ND vs Navy Game Thread

Before the game: Navy is a good team. They are going to be a tough game. It might be close

After the game: Navy stinks
I was saying it from the beginning. ND should handle Navy easily. The talent disparity is enormous. If they had struggled it would have been a disaster. ND did what they were supposed to do. Beat an inferior opponent by a considerable margin. Navy doesn't stink, they just don't have the horses. same with Army.

ND vs Navy Game Thread

Its just been a really boring season .. ND used to be an every snap at the edge of my seat type of entertainment .. now its background entertainment while im running errands around the house

i want exciting games against elite teams that move the needle on the brand/perception of the football program (at least more frequently than what it is now)
How is that LSU team doing? Was it exciting being outscored 31-6 in second half?
