I think our D keeps us in any of those games. It’s really all about Riley. X factor with those legs. Faison will be 100% now. Maybe Cam sees the field and is what we think. The only team that looks dominant right now is Oregon. Not Ga, TX or OSU.

Tx was lucky to survive Vandy.
Vandy's got a tough stretch to finish the season, they could finish 6-6, but they're going to get a bowl game, so that's good.

I bet OU wishes they could have held on to old boy. Dillon Gabriel. Difference maker for the Ducks, as a portal QB. Money well spent.

Agree. Top 12 certainly. Top 5, comparing Notre Dame to Georgia, Texas, Ohio St., Oregon, etc., is a big stretch.

And Boston College in 1993 was the better team right? NIU in 2024 was the better team too? Let downs happen in college football. The most likely answer is a combination yours and Telx's assertions.
This wasn't one of those situations. Are you actually comparing this to NIU? Lowly NIU of the MAC conference? Maybe we were in letdown mold, A&M wasn't. They just lost to good a SEC team. There's just nothing about sorry-ass perennially underachieving never accomplished shit in their history Texas A&M losing to an already proven to be very competitive and game SCe team, on the road, that would register as a big upset. Not even an upset at all. This was a pick 'em game and SCe stomped 'em.

SCe is a good team, barely lost to Bama and LSU, and also to Ole Miss. If they could have won one of those, they'd be eyeing a playoff spot every bit as much as LSU or A&M would.

At this point, I'm convincedND is legitimate top 12. But not legitimate top 5. Between that is more arguable...but all this will be resolved by the rest of the season. Kudos to them for it ncluding ND on a rough schedule.

I also wish they'd win out to bolster the ND SOS, but if the Irish win out, a playoff is assured.

BTW: I saw Oregon again. Making a statement by beating the BIG elite. Pretty good football team.

It wasn't a letdown. The better team won, there really weren't any lapses, SCe just made plays. A&M's not that great. They can beaten be them if you outplay them, and the cocks were up for the moment.

Better team won. A&M didn't do anything that bad they just lost.

Agreed with this I don't believe in "let down" or "coming out flat" games. That is more hack writer worthless drivel that doesn't hold up to the evidence
LOL Ive been gambling over 30 years and if you dont play these angles you will lose. You either havent followed football for long or dont understand it. Sit down sport you're out of your depth.

Biggest CFB disappointments/surprises thus far

Pitt got crushed. Out.

Leonard hadn't played football in nearly a year, didn't practice this spring or summer, the last two weeks we were starting to see the Riley Leonard the NFL was so hot on in his Sophomore season. Gutty kid who has the will to win. He could make things interesting for this depleted Irish team.

Just beat FSU!
Yes, one game at a time with this team. I don’t take any game for granted after the pathetic team wide performance against NIU. Fl St has talent and they appear to have quit on their coach, but playing a top ten ND might bring out their best collective effort. We absolutely can win out if we play to our abilities, but that is yet to be determined.

I'm not sold on their changing QBs to Reed being the right decision. He played well off the bench against LSU (when they had a gameplan for Weigman, who's a totally different type of QB). But as a starter against Arkansas and South Carolina, he hasn't done that great.

Indiana

Yep, sjb75- the dude from the land of fruits and nuts( Of course not saying there is anything wrong with that), LMFAO
Let’s not disparage folks from Calif. We’ve decided to move back to Calif from Henderson, NV…which we absolutely love. But we have one son, who is single and physically disabled with CP, and we just feel the desire to be closer to him. Unfortunately, he lives in Calif with a good job. Hate the thought of moving back to a one party State with high taxes and incredibly stupid public policy on numerous fronts…and Northern Calif at that. Maybe we are nuts!

Disappointment ? FSU. Pretty hard to imagine they’d be this bad.

Surprise ? Indiana. They look like the real deal.

Other disappointments and surprises. Michigan is so so. Personally, ND offense has been a letdown. I thought RL would be much better.

Watch out for Pitt. Kind of a sleeper and nobody seems to be paying attention to them.
